As a seasoned Rocket League gamer with countless hours under my belt and a shelf full of virtual trophies, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement upon hearing about the Rocket League Champions Road Open Tournament series! After what feels like an eternity since the last official Psyonix competition, it’s refreshing to see that everyone, not just the elite few, has something to play for.
Sign-ups for the Rocket League Champions Road are open now!
Rocket League has unveiled a new tournament series called Champions Road, which is a precursor to the RLCS World Championship this year. The tournaments will be held in various formats such as 1vs1, 2vs2, 3vs3 Rumble, and Sideswipe 1vs1. The events offer over $484,000 in prizes.
In the upcoming RLCS 2024 tournaments, everyone can participate from their own locations as they’ll all be held online, catering to players across all seven participating regions!
Introducing Rocket League Champions Road Opens

Between the last RLCS event and the 2024 World Championship, there’s been quite a bit of idle time. To be precise, aside from the sixteen teams who qualified for both events, no official Psyonix competitions have taken place since late May. At present, the Shift Summer League is helping to bridge this gap, but it only features a select number of top-tier teams worldwide.
Ultimately, the Rocket League Champions Open provides a competitive goal for all players. A series of three main tournaments – one-versus-one (1v1), two-versus-two (2v2), and three-versus-three (3v3) Rumble – will be held every weekend, culminating in the RLCS 2024 Worlds. Immediately afterwards, a Sideswipe 1v1 tournament for Rocket League’s mobile version will also take place.
Rocket League Champions Road format, schedule, and prizing
In the upcoming Rocket League Champions Road tournament series, there will be individual and team competitions for different game modes: 1-on-1, 2-on-2, 3-on-3 Rumble, and Sideswipe. These tournaments will be accessible across all existing RLCS regions in 2024, and the grand total prize money amounts to an impressive $484,450, with a fair distribution system.
Each competition will consist of a straightforward double-elimination format spread over three consecutive days, with team placements determined by their average in-game rankings.
