Rock Band Cancels Tour After Drummer Removed by ICE, Criminal Past Revealed

The American rock band was taken aback when their drummer was unexpectedly escorted off their flight for starting a European tour by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Subsequent revelations showed that he had a past criminal history.

Yamil Said, who hails from Mexico, holds both citizenship there and a U.S. green card, serves as the drummer for the Texas-based rock group known as Lord Buffalo.

The band shared that Said was ‘compelled off our European flight’ by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport on Monday.

The band expressed that he is still being detained, and unfortunately, we haven’t managed to reach him. They shared their sadness as they had to postpone the tour due to this unfortunate circumstance.

At the moment, we’re collaborating with an immigration attorney to gather more details and make efforts towards his freedom.

Nevertheless, the Department of Homeland Security stated that Said holds legal permanent residency status, but has active warrants against him and a criminal history.

‘Yamal Said is a Mexican national and lawful U.S. permanent resident,’ they wrote in a post to X. 

‘Previously, Said faced an arrest warrant due to breaching a protective order on more than one occasion. Anyone entering our nation who disregards our laws can expect to be apprehended.’

In his effort to depart from the United States, he was caught by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and subsequently handed over to local authorities for further investigation or detention.

According to a recent Facebook post, the group has remained silent about these accusations and has been advised by Said’s relatives to keep a low profile.

They shared that while details regarding the current circumstance remain scarce, they’ve been instructed by both the family of our drummer and his legal advisors to maintain privacy as the situation unfolds.

This morning, the band announced that ‘Said has obtained a lawyer’ and mentioned that ‘frankly, we’re unsure about the current situation.’

According to records obtained online by KUT News, it is confirmed that Said violated a felony by breaching a protective order. No additional information about the specific charges has been disclosed.

Activist Mahmoud Khalil, who advocates for Palestine, has been determined eligible for deportation based on his participation in demonstrations held at Columbia University, according to the law.
