She’s been a public figure for more than forty years, first becoming well-known in the 1980s.
Robin Wright, age 60, is happily living in the English countryside with her partner, architect Henry Smith, 52, after deciding to leave the United States permanently.
The actress is one of several Hollywood stars who have left the busy American lifestyle for a large, peaceful home in the Chiltern Hills.
Robin described her new, peaceful life, saying she loves living in this country because of the kindness of the people and the sense of personal freedom it offers.
They’re simply existing, not truly living. Unlike most Americans who are caught up in the daily grind – stuck in traffic, stressed on the phone, or just rushing through meals – they’ve found a way to escape the constant pressure and competition that defines modern life.
She loves starting her day by listening to birdsong from her large house, followed by a walk with her dogs.
Robin had enough when she started hearing construction next door. She explained, ‘Everyone around here is building these massive homes, and I just can’t deal with all the noise. I really value peace and quiet, and I’ve finally found the right person to share my life with.’
Ryan Gosling, Eva Mendes, and designer Tom Ford are among the well-known celebrities who have recently moved to the UK from the United States.
Turning 60 on Wednesday didn’t bother Robin, especially since she recently found the love of her life. Starting a new decade felt positive after that.
I don’t think reaching this milestone marks the end of anything. It’s just a slightly larger number, and it doesn’t really change how I feel. I already made a big change in my life when I turned 50, deciding to live things on my own terms,” she told The Sunday Times.
Having been divorced three times, she met her boyfriend – who was born in Britain but now lives in Australia – at a pub in the Chilterns. She was staying nearby with her stepsister, Lucinda Carmichael, in a rental property they found on Airbnb.
The couple, who fell in love while both recovering from COVID-19 over five months, are now planning to move to a rental home by the English coast with their Labradors, Rusty and Rocky.
Robin said it felt freeing to finally finish something, even if it meant accepting less than a perfect outcome. ‘It’s about letting go of the constant search for something better and being okay with getting most of what you hoped for,’ she explained.
This is exactly what I’ve been feeling. I’m turning sixty and starting to wonder what the next chapter holds. I enjoy my own company and have been independent for a long time, but now I really want to share life with someone – to grow old together and explore the world.
One of the designers behind Pour Les Femmes described feeling ‘so relaxed’ and accepted for herself, which she really appreciated. However, she firmly stated that she has no plans to get married again, saying it’s completely unnecessary.
In 2022, Robin ended her nearly four-year marriage by filing for divorce from her third husband, Clément Giraudet, who works in VIP relations for Saint Laurent.
She shares two children with her second ex-husband, Sean Penn: a daughter named Dylan, age 34, and a son named Hopper, age 32. Their sometimes turbulent marriage lasted 13 years and concluded in 2010.
Sean and Robin have a complicated relationship, with a pattern of breaking up and reconciling. They first began dating in 1989 and were married for fourteen years, from 1996 to 2010.
They wed in 1996 then planned on divorcing in December 2007 but called it off four months later.
The couple briefly separated in April 2009, but then decided to try again. However, Robin filed for divorce in August 2009, and it was finalized in July 2010.
The award-winning actress was once married to her co-star, Dane Witherspoon, from the show Santa Barbara, but they divorced after two years in 1988.
Before meeting Henry, Robin always believed someone was out there for her despite her divorces.
In an interview with AARP, she described herself as a romantic, explaining that even after difficult relationships, people tend to bounce back. She said our hearts hold onto the hope of finding love again, and it’s wonderful when that happens.
I’m tired of worrying, second-guessing, and being suspicious. I’m ready to leave all that behind – the drama and uncertainty of our younger years.
I don’t think I’ll ever feel that way again – that mix of jealousy and suspicion. It’s something you eventually move past, just like outgrowing old clothes.
Robin Wright is known for her roles in popular movies like Forrest Gump, The Princess Bride, and Wonder Woman. She also received a Golden Globe award for playing Claire Underwood in the TV series House of Cards.
Robin recently shared that she felt in incredible shape while filming Wonder Woman in her fifties, and she’s still feeling great as she approaches her sixties.
We had weeks of training before filming began, working out daily,” she said. “It included intense weightlifting and a really strict diet.
We needed to eat around 3,500 calories daily, which meant having smoothies between our three main meals. On top of that, we were training in martial arts and horseback riding, learning to ride and use a bow and arrow. It was incredibly demanding and intense.
I was incredibly fit while filming that movie, and I actually turned fifty during production. It made me realize I’d probably never be in that good of shape again, which was a pretty amazing feeling.
