Robin Williams’ Daughter Slams AI Videos of Her Father

Zelda Williams, who is a filmmaker and the daughter of Robin Williams, has asked fans to stop sharing videos created by artificial intelligence that depict her late father.

This week, Williams shared a message on Instagram calling videos of the incident “foolish” and stressed that the images and footage shared are not what the person involved would have wanted.

She added (via The Hollywood Reporter)…

Please, just stop. I don’t want to see this, and I won’t pretend to understand. It’s pointless and a waste of everyone’s time and energy. If you have any consideration for others, please stop putting him – and all of us – through this.

Zelda Williams is a talented actor and filmmaker. She’s done voice work for popular TV series like *The Legend of Korra*, *Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles*, and *Transformers: EarthSpark*. In February 2024, she released her first feature film as a director, *Lisa Frankenstein*.

Williams expressed her strong disapproval of AI-generated videos using her father’s image on Instagram. She criticized these videos as disrespectful and exploitative, comparing them to poorly made and unappetizing products forced upon others for approval. She believes they lack artistic merit and are deeply offensive.

Okay, so AI is really starting to shake things up in Hollywood and online. I recently read about this completely digital actress, Tilly Norwood, and it’s wild – her creators are actually trying to get her an agent! It’s a sign of the times, I guess, and it definitely makes you wonder what the future of entertainment looks like when you’ve got computer-generated talent knocking on the doors of major agencies.

Robin Williams died in 2014. He was 63 years old at the time of his passing.
