Robert Redford dead at 89: Oscar-winning All The President’s Men star died in his sleep at Utah home

Screen legend Robert Redford has died at the age of 89.

The Academy Award-winning actor passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Utah, near Provo, according to The New York Times.

Cindi Berger, head of the publicity firm Rogers & Cowan PMK, announced his death.

Robert Redford was a major Hollywood star for many years, known for hit films like *Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid* and *All the President’s Men*.

The actor began directing later in life and won an Oscar for Ordinary People in 1980. 

In 1981, he established the Sundance Institute, a nonprofit organization that quickly became a major force in the arts.

He revitalized a small, failing film festival in 1984, turning it into the renowned Sundance Film Festival held in Park City, Utah.

This was a launching pad for up-and-coming filmmakers, and it’s known for showcasing the early work of directors like Quentin Tarantino, Ava DuVernay, James Wan, and Darren Aronofsky.
