Despite not making a big splash in theaters, Robert Pattinson’s sci-fi film “Mickey 17” has found favor as a popular choice on streaming platform Max.

Guided by filmmaker Bong Joon-ho, who directed the acclaimed movie “Parasite,” and inspired by Edward Ashton’s novel “Mickey 7” published in 2022, the upcoming film features Robert Pattinson as a character named Mickey 17. This character is essentially replaceable, undertaking numerous perilous missions to colonize the frigid planet of Niflheim, where he repeatedly meets his demise.

The movie titled “Mickey 17” made more than $120 million globally after its premiere in March. However, it was classified as a failure because its production cost, excluding advertising expenses, was around $118 million.

In contrast to its lackluster commercial success, the film “Mickey 17” has experienced a resurgence, garnering significant attention on the American streaming service Max. Since its debut on May 23, it has become the most-streamed movie on the platform.

The movie has received acclaim from critics as well, with a rating of 77% on Rotten Tomatoes, which classifies it as ‘Fresh’.

In this review, it is stated that “Mickey 17” showcases Bong Joon Ho returning to his expertise in offbeat sci-fi, with a sharp social commentary at its heart. The review also suggests that having multiple Robert Pattinsons in the film proves to be more than enough.

Apart from Robert Pattinson, the cast of Mickey 17 includes Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Toni Collette, and Mark Ruffalo as well.

Recently, it was shared that Pattinson became quite anxious when scrutinizing specific scenes from the script. This led to Zendaya needing to reassure him prior to filming.

The actor reminisced about a challenging moment we shared on set, stating, “It left me puzzled and restless.” In an attempt to unravel its significance, I penned numerous pages filled with detailed textual analysis. Eventually, I found myself on the phone with Zendaya late in the evening before filming that scene.

Initially, I expressed my uncertainties to her, we conversed for about two hours, and eventually, in a soothing manner, she clarified that the statement was straightforward with no hidden implications. Little did I know, I had been overthinking it for three straight days.
