Robert Pattinson’s Mickey 17 Moving to a Different Streamer This Month

Warner Bros. has had a remarkably successful year at the box office, achieving a record number of consecutive number-one movie openings in the United States. However, one film didn’t contribute to this success: a poorly received science fiction comedy that will soon be available on a new streaming platform this month.

Starting November 26th, you can watch Mickey 17 on Prime Video. The film is set in 2054 and stars Robert Pattinson as Mickey Barnes, a member of a space colony. He’s an “Expendable” – a worker who is cloned each time he dies. The cast also includes Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Toni Collette, and Mark Ruffalo, who plays Kenneth Marshall, a self-centered and scheming former politician with a hidden agenda for the colony. Despite featuring a talented cast, Mickey 17 didn’t perform well in theaters, earning only $133 million at the box office, barely more than its $118 million production budget.

Bong Joon Ho, the director of the Oscar-winning film Parasite, recently released Mickey 17, a science fiction movie based on Edward Ashton’s novel Mickey7. Though it hasn’t reached the same widespread acclaim as Parasite, Mickey 17 has earned positive reviews, with 77% of critics on Rotten Tomatoes giving it their approval (based on 358 reviews). Critics generally agree that the film marks a return to Bong Joon Ho’s strengths: blending quirky science fiction with sharp social commentary.

What’s Next for Robert Pattinson?

Robert Pattinson has been consistently working in Hollywood since gaining fame as Edward Cullen in the 2008 film Twilight. His next project is Die, My Love, a dark comedy-drama starring Pattinson and Jennifer Lawrence, directed by Lynne Ramsay. The film, based on a 2012 novel, will be released this Friday, November 7th. Interestingly, his following three confirmed films, all scheduled for 2026, will also feature Zendaya, including the romantic comedy The Drama, where they play a couple facing challenges before their wedding.

After appearing together in Oppenheimer, Matt Damon and Robert Pattinson are expected to star in Christopher Nolan’s next film, The Odyssey, scheduled for release in July 2026. This movie is an action-packed retelling of Homer’s classic Greek poem, with Damon playing the role of Odysseus, the king of Ithaca, and following his dangerous travels home after the Trojan War. While rumors suggest Pattinson is also part of the cast, Nolan and Universal have not yet confirmed this.

Both actors will finish their work together with Dune: Part Three, which will be the last movie in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune series. The film will primarily be based on the second book in the series, but there’s talk it might also include elements from Frank Herbert’s Children of Dune. Zendaya will return as Chani, and while Robert Pattinson’s role is still a secret, rumors suggest he might play Scytale, a character who tries to overthrow Paul Atreides in the second book, Messiah.

Robert Pattinson has finished filming the crime drama Primetime and is currently working on the heist movie Here Comes the Flood. Release dates for both films haven’t been announced yet. Next, he’ll return as Batman in The Batman Part II, with production scheduled to start in early 2026 and the film expected to be released in October 2027.

Mickey 17 arrives on Prime Video on Nov. 26.
