Robert Pattinson says he can finally look back on the Twilight films with ‘really fond feelings’ after years of ‘not coping at all’ with the ‘hysteria’ that surrounded him and his co-star ex girlfriend Kristen Stewart

After years of finding the intense public attention surrounding the Twilight movies difficult, Robert Pattinson now says he can look back on them with positive emotions.

The 39-year-old actor became famous worldwide for playing the vampire Edward Cullen in the Twilight films, where he starred with Kristen Stewart, his girlfriend at the time, who played Bella Swan.

These movies, adapted from Stephanie Meyer’s novel, came out between 2008 and 2012. The novel recently marked its 25th anniversary.

Looking back on his sudden fame, Robert Pattinson recently told The Mirror that while he initially wanted to put the ‘Twilight’ years behind him, he now remembers that time very fondly, especially now that the intense fan excitement has calmed down.

You know, even after all these years, I still get asked about Twilight more than anything else! It’s truly amazing to see the lasting impact that story has had on so many people – the fans are incredible, and their passion is still so strong. It really means a lot.

Streaming services have brought a new generation of fans to the films. I often hear from people who weren’t even alive when the original movie was released.

The popular movie series made Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner household names, and it grossed over $3.4 billion worldwide.

As someone who keeps a close eye on what captures the public’s imagination, I can confidently say Twilight is more than just a series – it’s a full-blown cultural moment. Those five books and the movies they inspired really took hold and became a huge part of pop culture, and it’s fascinating to see how it continues to resonate with people.

Robert mentioned that fans frequently asked him to playfully bite them, pretending he was the vampire Edward, and that this happened almost every week.

He explained that’s why he was so eager to leave those films behind, admitting he hadn’t handled the experience well at all.

The actor explained that he loved the first movie the most because the intense fan excitement hadn’t begun, and the cast was able to fully appreciate making it.

After first being offered on Netflix, the films recently switched to NBCUniversal’s Peacock.

Robert shifted his focus to independent films, receiving praise from critics for his work in movies like Good Time and The Lighthouse.

He later returned to other blockbuster roles, starring as Bruce Wayne in The Batman.

Elsewhere in the interview, Robert also touched upon becoming a father.

Suki Waterhouse and her partner had a baby girl in March 2024. Reports suggest they may have gotten married after becoming engaged in 2023.

He said fatherhood brings ‘so much fun, so much joy, so much laughter’.

Robert shared that he’s become more patient, but admits there’s no perfect guide to being a parent – he’s figuring things out as he goes.

The actor this week seemingly hinted he secretly married Suki.

Robert hinted at the status of his relationship with the 34-year-old model while at the premiere of their new movie, The Drama, with Zendaya on Tuesday.

Robert and Suki were asked about their biggest secret, and Robert responded playfully, hinting at wedding rumors: ‘It’s the same one you’re keeping!’

Zendaya, who people suspect may have secretly tied the knot with Tom Holland, playfully responded when asked about her biggest secret by saying she couldn’t think of one.

The actress has been seen wearing a plain gold ring on the ring finger of her left hand, in addition to the $500,000 engagement ring designed by Jessica McCormack that she first showed off in January 2025.
