Reports surfaced earlier this year that Robert Pattinson, known for his roles in films like The Batman and Mickey 17, was being considered for Dune: Part Three, which is based on the novel Dune: Messiah. He’s now confirmed he’ll be in the movie, and mentioned it quite casually.
While talking to IndieWire about his new movie, Die My Love, with Jennifer Lawrence, the actor surprisingly let slip that he’s part of the film – even though no one had asked him about it and the studio hadn’t officially announced his involvement yet.
He admitted it felt good to stop overthinking. He explained that filming Dune in the desert heat was so physically demanding that he didn’t have the energy to dwell on things or ask questions.

It was incredibly relaxing, almost like my brain shut off completely. I felt totally blank, and I just let Denis Villeneuve take the lead – I was happy to go along with whatever he wanted.

During the interview, he didn’t mention what character he was up for, but an early report indicated he was being considered for the role of the villain, Scytale.
If the marketing for Die My Love is still ongoing, there will likely be several opportunities for Pattinson to address, in his usual relaxed way, whether or not he’s playing the villain.
Rebecca Ferguson recently told the publication she will return for the third Dune movie, despite her character, Lady Jessica Atreides, having a limited role in the source material, Dune: Messiah.

“I don’t have a big part in this one, [Lady Jessica is] just barely in the book,” she said.
I wasn’t certain I was right for the role, but Denis had a vision. The screenplay is amazing. Adapting the book into a film was incredibly challenging because there’s so much story to cover – it’s a very complex and detailed work.
Denis isn’t fully engaged, but he makes an effort and wants to maintain some connection to the book.
Before finding out she was coming back, she jokingly said she didn’t want to return just to be stuck somewhere warm – a comment Robert Pattinson apparently loved.
Dune: Part Three is set to release on 18 December, 2026.
