Robert Kirkman: Invincible season 3 release date will be announced this year
As a gamer who’s been through countless long waits for sequels and expansions, I can confidently say that Prime Video’s announcement about the upcoming seasons of ‘Invincible’ has filled my heart with a sense of relief and excitement. After the grueling wait between seasons 1 and 2, it’s a breath of fresh air to hear that we won’t have to endure such a long gap this time around.
Amazon Prime Video’s animated version of Robert Kirkman‘s “Invincible” comic book series has solidified itself as one of the top-notch superhero television shows. Following the conclusion of season 2 earlier this year, viewers are bracing themselves for another long wait until season 3. However, according to Kirkman himself, our endurance might not be pushed quite as hard this time.
As a passionate gamer, I’ve got to say, it’s been a rollercoaster waiting for new episodes of Invincible! The first season dropped in March 2021, and we didn’t get a glimpse of season 2 until November 2023. What’s more, when it finally premiered, we only got half the season – talk about a cliffhanger!
In actuality, Kirkman has disclosed that Amazon Prime Video plans to announce the release date for season 3 of Invincible as soon as this year. The long waits of more than two years are now a thing of the past. He stated during San Diego Comic-Con that you will definitively learn when it will air in 2024, providing some insight into the matter, according to The Direct.
“I’ve said this before. And unfortunately, this is like a sum total of what I’m allowed to say currently. But there’s a big gap between ‘Invincible’ Season 1 and Season 2. That sucked; I didn’t like it; nobody else liked it. It’s no fun. But you know, animation is hard. And so it takes time.”
The simultaneous renewal of Invincible for seasons 2 and 3 by Prime Video proved advantageous to the production team, as it allowed them to work on both seasons consecutively without any delays, facilitating a smoother creative process.
“Kirkman stated that the consecutive renewal for Season 2 and Season 3 is due to Amazon’s dedication towards providing ample time for creating these shows more swiftly. To accomplish this, it’s necessary to plan ahead and work on multiple seasons simultaneously since it takes three years from inception to completion to produce an animated season. Therefore, the seasons must be carefully arranged and coordinated to ensure a timely release.”
Amazon’s Prime Video is excitedly expanding the world of “Invincible.” There are talks about spinoffs and, as expected, the main series has been renewed for season 4. Although there isn’t a release date for season 3 yet, it looks like early 2025 might be the time. In the interim, why not catch up on the comics to stay one step ahead!
