Robert Downey Jr. remembered a funny conversation with Gwyneth Paltrow where she asked who a person was. Downey Jr. playfully replied, “That’s Spider-Man, also known as Peter – Tom Holland. You’ve worked with him on four films!”

While praising Gwyneth Paltrow, the actor best known as Tony Stark commented on her controversial public image. He jokingly said that ‘polarizing’ is a term often unfairly used against successful women who consistently prove their impact and ability to evolve over time.

Concluding his speech, Downey Jr raved: “It’s time to recognise … Gwyneth fuggin’ Paltrow.”

Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow have been close friends for more than 15 years, ever since they first worked together on the 2008 film Iron Man. They’ve often talked about their strong connection in interviews. This week, at a Women in Entertainment event, Paltrow was asked by Entertainment Tonight how she felt about Downey Jr. presenting her with the Leadership Award.

She chuckled, predicting he’d grumble about having to get up early. “He’s practically family,” she said warmly. “He really understands me, and I love him. He’s such a talented artist, and I’m so excited he’s traveling all the way from Malibu to do this for me.”

When I saw Gwyneth accept her award, it really hit me. Later, she told Robert Downey Jr. how much she appreciated him, saying he was like the older brother she never really asked for, but was super grateful to have. She said he was the best scene partner ever – always giving her honest and insightful reactions, not just about their characters, but about everything – their families, life, the whole deal. It was a really sweet moment.
