Robert Downey Jr. Demanded Avengers: Doomsday Reshoots — Rumor

According to reports, it’s said that the film titled “Avengers: Doomsday” required about a month of additional shooting sessions, which were requested by Robert Downey Jr., who plays the character Doctor Doom in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film.

What’s the latest Avengers: Doomsday rumor?

In a recent episode of The Hot Mic podcast featuring Jeff Sneider and John Rocha, Sneider shared some information about Doomsday. He stated that due to Downey’s request, the movie needed three weeks of additional filming. This was because, during those three weeks, Downey wasn’t present for on-set filming.

During filming, Robert Downey Jr. occasionally showed up on set to deliver lines for Doctor Doom but didn’t participate in specific scenes. Instead, stand-ins were used to represent him in the movie. However, as Sneider points out, after recognizing that this approach wasn’t effective, Downey asked to re-shoot all three weeks of these scenes, with him wearing the actual Doctor Doom costume instead.

Sneider mentions that the report he heard about the movie is merely a rumor when inquired about it. Nevertheless, reshoots are quite common in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Furthermore, Sneider alluded to other issues or problems on the Doomsday set, but didn’t provide much detail about them.

The lineup for Avengers: Doomsday promises to be immense, with many notable actors from the Marvel Cinematic Universe confirmed to appear. Among them are Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby portraying Invisible Woman/Sue Storm, Anthony Mackie in Captain America’s role, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Letitia Wright as Shuri/Black Panther, and Paul Rudd reprising his Ant-Man character.

In addition to the title, the new movie features several characters and their respective actors. These include Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent/John Walker, Tenoch Huerta as Namor, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing/Ben Grimm, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Kelsey Grammer as Dr. Hank McCoy/Beast, Lewis Pullman as Bob/Sentry, Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres/Falcon, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Winston Duke as M’Baku, Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr/Ghost, and Tom Hiddleston as Loki.

By using simpler language and breaking the list into sentences, I aimed to make the information more accessible and easier for readers to understand.

In the forthcoming film, some iconic X-Men characters will reappear, such as Charles Xavier portrayed by Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Alan Cumming’s Nightcrawler, Mystique played by Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden’s Cyclops, and Channing Tatum’s Gambit.

Avengers: Doomsday is slated to release in theaters on December 18, 2026.
