Robert De Niro, 81, reveals number one parenting rule after admitting he doesn’t change baby’s diapers

Robert De Niro has revealed what he thinks the most important rule of parenting is.

The well-known 81-year-old figure from Hollywood has seven children, the most recent addition being a two-year-old daughter named Gia, who he shares with his partner, Tiffany Chen, aged 45.

In a simpler, more conversational way, the experienced parent stated, “What truly matters is helping your children thrive.” After returning from the Cannes Film Festival.

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, he emphasized, “As far as I’m concerned, if they aren’t causing harm to themselves, engaging in destructive activities, or similar behaviors, then it’s essential that we offer our full support – without question.

In a similar vein, the actor from “A Bronx Tale” remarked, ‘Regardless of whether you agree or not, they need your backing. And they must understand that you are behind them, unwaveringly.’

In his extraterrestrial chat, the veteran performer additionally shared insights about his newest addition to the family, who was born in April 2023 alongside Chen.

With immense pride, he exclaimed, ‘She’s nothing but a burst of happiness!’ At two years old, she’s growing rapidly, yet… well, you understand! Still, it’s always such a delight. She’s pure joy, there’s no other way to put it!

It comes after he admitted that he does not change his baby’s diapers. 

In response to a question from the Sunday Times in January, he shared that his routine used to be different. Specifically, he would spend his mornings watching Miss Rachel with her, and he’d also feed her a bottle.

Apart from Gia, this actor also has children: Drena who’s 57 years old, Raphael at 48, twin brothers Julian and Aaron who are both 29, Elliot is 27, and Helen is just 14.

In the course of his life, he had two children with Diahnne Abbott through marriage. Later on, he was also blessed with twins while in a relationship with Toukie Smith.

Elliot and Helen have been jointly involved with his former wife, Grace Hightower, since their marriage in 1997 until their separation in 2018.

2023 saw Robert De Niro express his joy on The Today Show about welcoming his seventh child, stating, “It’s fantastic!

During an interview with The Guardian in October 2023, he mentioned that caring for children remains challenging. He added, “It just is what it is. It’s alright. I, fortunately, don’t handle the main responsibilities.
