Robbie Williams reveals his mother has dementia four years after his father was diagnosed with Parkinson’s
As a devoted fan who has grown up alongside Robbie Williams’ journey, I find myself deeply moved by the latest developments in his personal life. The revelation of his mother Janet’s dementia diagnosis and his father Pete’s ongoing battle with Parkinson’s is a somber reminder of the human side of our beloved stars.
Robbie Williams has revealed his mother Janet has been diagosed with dementia.
The diagnosis comes four years after the singer revealed his dad Pete had Parkinson’s.
50-year-old singer opened up about his health condition following a disclosure that his forthcoming biopic, “Better Man,” portrays a heartwarming bond he shared with his deceased grandmother suffering from dementia on screen.
When asked about his family’s opinion on the movie, Robbie explained to HELLO! “At present, my mother is experiencing dementia, similar to the character in the film, and my father has Parkinson’s disease and is bedridden. Consequently, I find myself in a distinct phase of life currently.
In 2020, Robbie shared that his father, Pete, had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. He confessed then that he was grappling with fear and anxiety about his dad’s health condition.
He shared with The Mirror that getting diagnosed with [the condition] during the pandemic added an extra layer of challenge, as he, his wife Ayda, and their children were quarantining, far from his parents in Los Angeles.
Currently, we’re dealing with numerous family predicaments. My father has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, and my beloved mother-in-law is battling a serious illness. Unfortunately, distance prevents us from being with them. My father lives thousands of miles away.
At that moment, Robbie mentioned about his mother, who was almost 80 years old and in isolation. I could observe the thoughts racing through her mind and the way her eyes darted around.
Previously from Take That, the artist has frequently shared the stage with his vocalist father, Pete, on numerous occasions.
1977 marked the separation of Robbie’s parents, and they both have a daughter named Sally, who is eleven years older than Robbie.
Earlier, the popular musician expressed concern about both of his elderly parents in a chat with The Sun. He mentioned, “They’re at an age where they are particularly susceptible to current events, so I talk to them on the phone every day.
Robbie and his spouse Ayda, aged 45, are dealing with numerous challenges, as Ayda’s mother, Gwen, has been diagnosed with a recurrence of cervical cancer. Previously, Gwen had fought battles against breast cancer, Parkinson’s disease, and Lupus.
During an appearance on Loose Women last month, Ayda shared with her colleagues, “This topic is particularly challenging for me to discuss.
In our household, my mother and I usually avoid discussing stages, and I’m stating this following a conversation with her, where we had agreed that I might bring up the topic about what she has been experiencing.
My mother expressed, “I really hope you share this story, but I want to ensure it carries a positive tone. I’ll do my utmost to ensure that it does.
Unfortunately, my mother’s cervical cancer has come back. Previously, she successfully fought and survived breast cancer.
Overwhelmed with feelings, she disclosed, “It appears that the cancer has returned, and we received this difficult news about two months back. Since then, I’ve been dealing with it quietly.
However, during our discussion today, which coincidentally falls within Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I found myself reflecting on the importance of being genuine in this space as well as among my circle of friends.
As a die-hard fan, I couldn’t help but sense that now was the perfect moment to delve into the clandestine conflict unfolding within our home.
In the year 2020, Ayda opened up about her mom’s past struggle with cancer during an episode of Robbie’s podcast titled “At Home With The Williamses.
She said: ‘It had spread outside the cervix and was a very aggressive tumour.
In addition to dealing with her Parkinson’s and lupus, she also had a fierce struggle against cancer. Due to the size of the cancer, the medical team opted for immediate chemotherapy and radiation treatments on a daily basis, followed by surgery.
Experiencing a great deal of concern because my 70-year-old mother, who has Parkinson’s, Lupus, and cancer, is at high risk for unfortunate events occurring.
She visited the hospital daily for these treatments, which made me concerned that she might catch an infection.
In September Robbie and Ayda were left devastated when both of their dogs died on the same night.
On Instagram, the renowned pop artist and his actress spouse shared that their cherished dogs, Poupette and Walle, passed away together in their bed. This heartbreaking loss signifies the end of a significant phase in their lives.
In a detailed post, Ayda shared that Poupette had been with her for 18 years, serving as her loyal companion prior to her meeting the ex-Take That singer. Later, they expanded their ‘mixed breed’ canine household by adding Walle to the family after some time had passed.
