Due to safety concerns regarding potential terror threats, Robbie Williams had to cancel a scheduled concert in Turkey. The singer shared a statement on Saturday explaining the situation.
The singer behind “Angels”, who is 51 years old, used Instagram to tell his upset fans that he unfortunately had to cancel his performance in Istanbul. He explained that he didn’t have any other choice.
Robbie shared with his followers: ‘I’m really sorry, but I won’t be able to perform in Istanbul next week.‘
The ex-Take That singer explained: ‘Local officials have called off the performance because they’re worried about everyone’s safety.‘
The very last thing I’d ever do is put my fans at risk – their safety and security are my top priority.
We were thrilled to perform in Istanbul for the very first time, and we specifically selected the city to be the last stop on the BRITPOP tour.

Concluding this incredible series of shows before my Turkish fans was a long-held dream of mine, considering my family’s strong ties to this beautiful country.
To all of you in Istanbul who were hoping to be among the 1.2 million people who’ve enjoyed this amazing tour with us this year, I sincerely apologize.
‘We were so looking forward to this show but the decision to cancel it was beyond our control.’
Robbie was scheduled to perform at Atakoy Marina on October 7th – which coincided with the second anniversary of the terrorist attacks on Israel carried out by Hamas.
As reported by Turkiye Today, event organizers stated that concerns about possible security issues and negative public reaction led to the event being cancelled.
Robbie has faced criticism in the past regarding his marriage to Ayda Field, 46, whose father is of Turkish descent and whose mother is Jewish-American.
The couple have four children: a 12-year-old daughter named Teddy, a 10-year-old son named Charlie, a six-year-old daughter named Coco, and a four-year-old son named Beau.
His newest studio album, Britpop, was originally scheduled to come out just a few days later on October 10th. However, the release date has been moved to prevent it from competing with Taylor Swift’s Life Of A Showgirl.

I was so excited when Robbie first announced the release date for Britpop, but then he had to let us know about some changes. He told all of us that, because of some scheduling issues, it will now be released on February 6, 2026. It’s a bit of a wait, but I’m still really looking forward to it!
It came to light in August that Robbie Williams was facing a lawsuit from the co-writer of his popular song Angels. The co-writer alleges they only received £7,500 in royalties from the track.
Ray Heffernan is seeking a third of the future earnings – royalties – from the single. As of 2021, the song had sold roughly 1.8 million copies in the UK, counting both physical copies and digital downloads.
The Irish singer-songwriter, who wrote the popular song when he was 22 years old, plans to utilize a new ‘bestseller clause’ – a recently approved EU copyright law that provides writers with retroactive payment – during his forthcoming legal case.

The album, originally released in 1997, stayed in the top 10 on the music charts for 12 weeks. It’s recently become popular again with younger listeners, and has now been streamed over 670 million times on Spotify.
At the 2005 Brit Awards, fans voted it the top British song of the last 25 years. Remarkably, in that same year, a poll also revealed it was the song most British people would choose to be played at their funeral.
The story began in 1996 when Mr. Heffernan encountered Mr. Williams while they were both out in Dublin, Mr. Heffernan’s hometown, over the Christmas holidays.
He played the song for the ex-Take That member at his mother’s home, and they subsequently recorded an initial version of the song.
