Robbie Williams biopic confirms UK release date
As a lifelong Robbie Williams fan, the news that “Better Man” is finally set to hit the big screen on December 26 has me absolutely thrilled! I can still remember the first time I heard “Angels” and how it instantly became my anthem. This biopic promises to delve into the life of a man who, despite not being born with prodigious talent, managed to conquer the world with sheer will and determination – something we all can relate to!
The long-awaited biographical film about the life and career of Robbie Williams, titled “Better Man,” has now set its official release date.
Michael Gracey, director of “The Greatest Showman”, guides this film where the performer portrays himself. The story unfolds in a whimsical manner, recounting his journey from his early days with Take That to his thriving solo career.
It appears that after long years of preparation, the musical “Better Man” is finally set to be released. Mark your calendars for December 26th, as this date has been confirmed for its premiere in not only the UK and Ireland but also Australia. This announcement was made by Tom Linay on Twitter.
Apart from Williams, the talented ensemble for the show “Better Man” also features Steve Pemberton from “Inside No. 9“, Alison Steadman known for her role in “Gavin & Stacey“, Damon Herriman, who starred in “Justified“, and Jonno Davies portraying a younger version of the musician.
Previously, Gracey, who has also directed a documentary on Pink, discussed “Better Man” with Deadline in 2021. During that conversation, Gracey highlighted that the representation of the main character in “Better Man” would be distinct from previous music biopics like “Bohemian Rhapsody” and “Rocketman.”
“He explained that the tale he wants to convey is a blend of raw reality and whimsical elements, not one where exceptional individuals are discovered and admired for their innate talents. Instead, it’s a different kind of narrative.”
Robbie has a common-man charm, as he dared to dream vastly and chase those dreams, which led him to an astonishing journey. Remarkably, his tale resonates deeply with many, being highly relatable. He’s not the most accomplished singer or dancer, but he has sold an impressive 80 million records globally.
“You can relate to the guy who doesn’t see himself as having any extraordinary talent, even though of course, he does. What he did have is the will, vision and confidence to say, ‘I’m going to pursue my dream.’
“He expressed that through the film, it serves as a glimpse into an alternate reality where we boldly pursue our unattainable aspirations, which often get shelved by many. He also mentioned that Williams’ tunes will be reinterpreted to reflect the raw feelings of each specific instance.”
Better Man will be released in cinemas on December 26.
