As a lifestyle expert with a deep appreciation for the art of storytelling and the impact it has on people’s lives, I can wholeheartedly say that the return of Gavin & Stacey is more than just another TV show coming back from hiatus. It’s a reunion of beloved characters that have been woven into the fabric of our collective memories for over a decade.

Rob Brydon shared that the final episode script of Gavin and Stacey left him emotionally touched, causing him to shed some tears.

In the cherished BBC sitcom that aired from 2007 to 2010, spanning over three seasons and three special episodes, an actor, aged 59 at the time, took on the role of Bryn West, affectionately known as Uncle Bryn.

In July, the co-creators of the program, James Corden and Ruth Jones, excited fans everywhere when they announced the show would make its comeback.

On Christmas Day 2024, viewers are cordially invited back to Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, to discover the events that unfolded over the series’ five-year hiatus.

Addressing Chris Evans directly from Laverstoke Park Farm, Rob expressed about the concluding episode: “Initially, we understood that it would unfold this way, yet we were instructed to maintain secrecy. Therefore, we found ourselves in a position of having to mislead others!”

‘It’s a horrible feeling, because you don’t want to lie to somebody right in the face.’

He continued: ‘It was a couple of months before the cast saw the script. I only saw it, we were on holiday, we were away, about a month ago. I read it. Oh, it’s so good.’

When BBC Radio host Chris, aged 58, inquired whether Rob felt compelled to say what he did, Rob responded by stating, “No, I wouldn’t really choose to, you know. I don’t want to jinx anything, but I find it simply amazing.”

He revealed: ‘Do you know what? I was moved to tears, because it’s emotional.’

Rob additionally confessed that he had glanced through certain sections of the script with his wife, which was inappropriate given Ruth and James’ secretive nature.

He mentioned about his work plan: “This week is for CarFest, the following week will be for rehearsals, and then we’ll begin filming.”

As Chris inquired about my eagerness to meet up with the cast again, I couldn’t help but express my genuine excitement. The reason being, I’m fully aware that this gathering would likely mark our final moment as a group.

‘We all get on so well. And I think it has been 17 years since we started, which is crazy.’

In July, James gave a major Gavin & Stacey update as he appeared on Capital Breakfast radio.

In the anticipated comeback of the renowned comedy series, viewers eagerly anticipate the resolution of the nail-biting cliffhanger involving Nessa (character played by Ruth) and Smithy (portrayed by James), as they wait to see if he will finally pop the question.

As a lifestyle expert, I’d put it this way: “James, at 45, confidently shared with Jordan North on Capital that we’ll have our final draft polished by this coming Friday. That means production could kick off in no time!”

In the interview, Jordan inquired: “Is everything set in stone, or are there more parts to be added?”

James responded: “Although it’s correctly written initially, we are currently making revisions. This means we need to shorten certain sections and rearrange some parts.”

As a working actor, I’ve come to appreciate the demands of juggling two major roles simultaneously. Currently, I find myself caught between the vibrant world of Sister Act in the West End and the hallowed halls of The Old Vic with my role in The Constituent. It’s an exhilarating yet exhausting ride, as both productions require immense dedication and energy. Playing Nessa in Sister Act has been a dream come true, as it’s a beloved character that brings joy to audiences night after night. On the other hand, stepping into the world of The Old Vic for The Constituent is equally challenging, given its reputation for showcasing groundbreaking theater. Balancing these two roles has tested my abilities, but I wouldn’t trade this experience for anything – it’s a testament to the unpredictable and rewarding life we lead as artists.

It seems we’ve been penning down our thoughts quite frequently in dressing rooms and similar spots. Despite being exhausted from the performances, we’re ready to dive back into it all tomorrow.

‘Back at it Friday. I hope by Friday… it will be done and finished this Friday!’

Jordan then said: ‘This Friday? Is that the deadline?’

James added humorously: “Indeed, it’s the self-imposed deadline since we’ll be starting filming quite soon. It’s not too far off anymore.”
