Riz Ahmed’s best movie (sorry Venom) Sound of Metal is airing on UK TV this evening (December 5).

2020’s movie revolves around a drummer specializing in heavy metal music, who gradually loses his ability to hear during a tour, grappling with the possibility of turning deaf.

If you haven’t previously caught it, Sound of Metal airs tonight at 11.05pm on BBC Two and will be available to watch on BBC iPlayer shortly after broadcast.

The movie titled “Sound of Metal” garnered significant praise when it was first released a couple of years back, eventually taking home two Oscars in the categories of Best Sound and Best Film Editing.

In addition to Ahmed, who was nominated for an Academy Award for his portrayal of Ruben Stone, the film also features Olivia Cooke from “House of the Dragon,” Paul Raci known for “Sing Sing,” and Lauren Ridloff, a star from “The Walking Dead.

The movie is directed and jointly written by Darius Marder, collaborating with his brother Abraham Marder on the script.

Since the release of “Sound of Metal,” Riz Ahmed, who also starred in “Rogue One” and “The Night Of,” has remained active. Notably, he won an Oscar in 2022 for Best Live Action Short Film for his work in “The Long Goodbye.

He has recently starred in movies Relay, Fingernails, Encounter and Flee, and will soon be seen in a new Hamlet adaptation alongside The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power‘s Morfydd Clark and Conversations with Friends‘ Joe Alwyn.

Ahmed is slated to appear in an upcoming comedy series on Prime Video, which takes place in London and features him as a struggling actor dealing with an existential dilemma and a mind-bending conspiracy plot while standing at the brink of his career’s peak. The production will also feature Guz Khan, known for his work on Taskmaster.

Tonight, December 5th, Sound of Metal is set to play on BBC Two at 11:05 PM. You’ll be able to catch it on BBC iPlayer shortly following its airing.
