Madelaine Petsch has stated she didn’t have any romantic encounters with her ‘Riverdale’ castmates, following KJ Apa’s recent admission that he lost his virginity while working on the series.
The actress, 31, addressed the topic while appearing on the Call Her Daddy podcast on Wednesday.
I want to clarify something about “Riverdale,” if I can,” the actress said, addressing rumors about a relationship with Tyga.
A recent article claimed inappropriate behavior occurred between cast members on the show. I want to be clear that I had no physical contact with anyone on set.
Let me say this again clearly: I absolutely did not have any inappropriate physical contact with anyone on the set of “Riverdale.” I want to be very clear – that is exactly what happened. Thank you.
After reading an interview with Apa in Entertainment Weekly, Petsch stated she wanted to clarify something: she hadn’t engaged in any relationships with the people being discussed.

I absolutely didn’t have anything to do with that. I keep my personal and professional life separate, and I’ve never been romantically involved with someone I’ve worked with.
Okay, so apparently Cole Sprouse – my absolute favorite, and yes, I know he dated Lili for ages while they were on the show – actually *told* her not to date anyone else on set! Can you believe it? Like, he gave her the ‘don’t fall for your co-stars’ speech. It’s just… everything about this is fascinating! I’m totally obsessed with all the behind-the-scenes drama, and knowing Cole was the one to warn her? Ugh, amazing.
‘Okay, got it. I won’t,’ she recalled replying.
She added that Sprouse’s tip was ‘the best advice [she’s] ever been given.’
Apa told Entertainment Weekly in August that his Riverdale co-stars hooked up with each other.
Aside from Petsch, the cast also included Camila Mendes, Casey Cott and Charles Melton.
He explained that shows like that often have a lot of intense situations, not necessarily gossip, but just inherent to the nature of the production and what it takes to create them.
‘You hook up with them, people hook up with each other.’

I was really struck by something he shared recently. He explained that he chose to wait until marriage to have sex, and he said it was because he deeply identified as a Christian and wanted to honor his faith at the time. It felt very personal and honest to hear him talk about that part of his life.
He mentioned that a sexual encounter with a fellow cast member created some difficulties on set.
‘Then you’re on set, and now you’re fighting with them,’ he shared.
Riverdale aired for seven seasons, from 2017 to 2023, on the CW.
