Rita Simons is engaged! EastEnders star shows off her gorgeous diamond ring after partner Ben Harlow popped the question
Rita Simons has announced that she is engaged to her partner Ben Harlow.
47-year-old actress from EastEnders, who’s been in a relationship with a producer since 2020, announced happy news via Instagram on Saturday and flaunted her stunning new diamond ring with pride.
The couple was beaming ear-to-ear, unable to hide their joy, as they struck numerous charming poses within the cozy confines of their residence for some delightful photographs.
Rita captioned the announcement with: ‘….so this happened! (ring emojis) @benjyharlow ❤️’
Fans responded with enthusiasm: “What a fantastic achievement! Huge congratulations to both of you!” or simply, “Congratulations to the both of you on your success!

Rita, recognized as Roxy Mitchell from the BBC soap opera, has been in a romantic relationship with a previous actor since 2020. They initially crossed paths while working together on the production of “Legally Blonde the Musical” in 2017.
Previously, when talking about her relationship, Rita mentioned that Ben is “the most charming gentleman in existence.” She also added that she realizes how “disorganized” she was before, only now that she’s “extremely content.
Prior to her relationship with Ben, Rita had been married to Theo Silveston for 14 years. They separated in the year 2018 after being wedded.
It seems that the actress and her hairstylist were drifting apart, and following a time of being apart, they chose to conclude their relationship.
However, after the couple split in 2018, Rita struggled with depression, insomnia and more.
In the end, the stress, pressure and heartbreak caused her to suffer a nervous breakdown.
2021 interview with OK! Magazine, Rita shared: “I was sick almost every fortnight and I experienced significant weight loss.
Each evening, after a tense chat with Theo, I’d step onto the West End stage for Everybody’s Talking About Jamie. Later on, I’d also find myself dealing with legal correspondence.

Instead of weeping backstage, I’d break down on stage, step off, then weep some more before replying. For nearly a year, I suffered from severe sleep deprivation as well.
My emotional breakdowns happened both on and off the stage, followed by responses that were equally emotional. For about a year, I experienced chronic insomnia.
I mentioned: “Whenever I’m feeling down, it’s my sleep that gets affected initially, and this often leads to an increase in both my feelings of depression and anxiety.
2019 saw the lead actor experiencing a mental collapse during their performance in the play “The House On Cold Hill.” Rita confessed that she ventured into deeply troubling mental territories at that time.
Earlier in conversation with The Sun, she mentioned: ‘The stage I entered had quite steep steps at the top.’
Additionally, I considered falling hard, not with the intention of ending my life, but rather to inflict enough pain upon myself that I would need medical attention. I desired help from someone, which made the situation incredibly frightening for me.
