Rita Ora admits she felt ‘ugly’ in her late twenties because she ‘wasn’t as thin as other people’ in candid body confidence chat with Fearne Cotton for Dove campaign
In her late twenties, Rita Ora openly shared that she often felt unattractive due to the fact that she wasn’t as slim compared to others.
The 34-year-old musician joined Fearne Cotton’s Happy Place podcast as part of a collaboration with Dove’s Self-Esteem Project, engaging in an open conversation about self-love and body confidence.
Rita shared insights on the transformation in her feelings towards her body over the past few years. She once felt her body lacked attractiveness, referring to it not being considered ‘attractive’.
In Rita’s own words, “It was around my late 20s when the concept of physical appearance became significant for me. That’s when I realized that my energy levels were depleting, I wasn’t taking good care of myself, I kept falling ill frequently, and I didn’t feel attractive.
‘Moreover, I couldn’t embrace the notion that just because I’m not as slim as others, it makes me unattractive. Looking back now, it’s truly disheartening to realize I held that belief, as I was well aware that I wasn’t actually ugly.’
It’s similar to how you confront your past self during therapy, and the girl from back then was still incredibly attractive.

On a recent Instagram post on Wednesday, Rita expressed, “I had a chat with Dove and Happy Place Official about the importance of self-care in building body confidence. It’s all about catering to what your body requires instead of how it appears.
Delighted to collaborate with the Dove Self Esteem Project on #Why2k – we’re changing the game and empowering women to boost their body self-confidence.
After Rita’s productive work visit to New York City, she flaunted an exceptional collection of designer clothes during her stay.
For the past week, the city’s sidewalks have served as the runway for the singer, who has been in town to headline a free concert at Brooklyn Bridge Park.
On Sunday evening, Rita wore an ensemble by her preferred design label, Pucci. She paired one of their renowned £400 scarves with a fitted skirt and cowboy boots, creating a striking silhouette.
This morning, Rita donned a different pink ensemble, pairing expensive Pucci patterned jeans worth £750 with a flowing top, eye-catching sunglasses, and an attention-grabbing necklace.
Earlier today, Rita opted for a new pink fashion combination, coordinating high-end £750 Pucci print jeans with a loose blouse, stylish sunnies, and a bold necklace.
On Monday Rita was spotted in a chic grey mini skirt and blazer for press and promo in the city.
The Clueless-inspired outfit was finished off with a “Rumors Have It” tee and a splash of vibrant color from her eye-catching yellow socks.

On Sunday evening, Rita opted for a flirtatious style, showcasing playful charm in minuscule shorts and a provocative waistcoat during her nighttime escapade.
Rita has been thoroughly enjoying her time in New York City, and on Sunday, she brought a piece of her home with her when she traveled to MetLife Stadium in New Jersey to support Chelsea football team.
In the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, the star played the role of Chelsea’s good luck talisman, contributing significantly to their 3-0 win against Paris Saint-Germain.
Her close friend and photographer, Rosie Matheson, referred to her as the “human lucky charm” of their team, after she posted images of the star’s joyous moments on Instagram.
Apart from that, she’s been making appearances in New York City on various talk shows. Specifically, she was a guest on Elvis Duran and the Morning Show, where she shared insights into her friendship with the now-departed Liam Payne.

Rita was asked if she will watch a new reality series that features the late singer.
Even now, I can’t help but find myself reminiscing about him, keeping his spirit alive within me. It’s been a while since he departed in Argentina at the end of last year, yet the memories remain as vivid as ever.
Host Elvis inquired if she plans to tune into “Building the Band,” a fresh series that marked Liam’s last project before its completion, just prior to his passing.
In the past few days, the initial four episodes have been released on Netflix, while an additional three episodes are set to premiere on July 16.
