“Riotous” murder-mystery thriller packed with “clever twists and turns” finds a new home on BBC

The popular murder-mystery series I, Jack Wright, created by the writer of Unforgotten, Chris Lang, is moving to the BBC. All six episodes from the first season will be available on BBC iPlayer and BBC One later this year, with the second season coming after that.

Federation Stories called the series “a riotous, pacey treat,” and the BBC says it’s full of clever surprises. (You can read our review here.)

Featuring Nikki Amuka-Bird as Sally Wright, a wife dealing with loss, I, Jack Wright is a fast-paced mystery revolving around the death of businessman Jack Wright (played by Trevor Eve). Initially believed to have taken his own life, his death deeply impacts his family and raises many questions.

When Jack Wright’s will is revealed after his death, his family’s grief quickly turns into conflict as they begin to argue over his inheritance. His wife, former wives, and children all compete for a share of his estate. Amidst the turmoil, a persistent detective begins to investigate, uncovering surprising secrets about the Wright family that make Jack’s suicide look less straightforward.

Season two is now filming and promises more family conflict. Still grieving the loss of their father, Jack, the Wright family is shocked when one of them is arrested for his murder. The question is, are they arresting the right person? And how will this impact the money each family member is set to inherit?

With a new family member, updated wills, and shocking deaths, the gripping story of the Wright family is back. Starring Nikki Amuka-Bird and John Simm, prepare for intense drama.
