Riot Games to remove honor capsules and orbs in LoL

In the upcoming days, League of Legends is set to undergo another adjustment as Honor Capsules and Orbs are scheduled for removal from the game.

As a gamer, I can’t help but notice the changes happening with the Hextech chests and now, the Honor capsules and orbs. It seems like Riot Games is shaking things up again, this time revamping the honor rewards for players who demonstrate positive in-game behavior. Let’s dive into these alterations together to see what’s new!

Honor capsules and orbs

In the course of each season, the honor system underwent minor adjustments, but generally, earning honor orbs would grant me key shards (once used to unlock Hextech chests, which sadly are no longer a part of the game as announced by the developers), champion shards with reduced cost, and occasionally, ward skins or blue essence. The honor capsules, particularly those at honor level three and above, would bestow more enticing rewards.

Winning fragments regularly provided a significant boost in blue essence, often awarding champion rewards of 4800 or more, along with unique honor skins such as the Gray Warwick and Medieval Twitch skins. Additionally, these victories granted Honor tokens up to five times, and occasionally included rare ward skin prizes too.

New rewards

Keep in mind that the new rewards might not live up to your expectations. Instead of receiving capsules and orbs, players will now accumulate Battle Pass XP. If you happen to have Honor capsules or orbs left in your stockpile when Riot makes the change, they’ll most likely be opened automatically, and their contents will be credited to your account.

Following numerous updates accompanying the latest game season, Riot Games has already disclosed modifications to the Battle Pass. During their initial developer’s update of 2025, the company unveiled intentions to enhance both the mission system and skins within the Battle Pass.

To foster a friendlier experience for newcomers, the Battle Pass will now offer unique character skins as rewards instead of being tied to specific themes. This change is intended to provide more diversity and flexibility in the items players can earn.

As reported by the creators, you can expect modifications to the missions, making them less challenging and enabling quicker advancement in the Battle Pass. At present, the initial season of 2025 with a Noxian theme for the Battle Pass is available, so be sure to finish your tasks and gather some rewards!
