Ringo Starr cancels final U.S. shows due to a cold but sends ‘peace and love’ to fans
As a film enthusiast with a deep appreciation for music history, I can’t help but feel a pang of disappointment upon hearing about Ringo Starr‘s sudden tour cancellation. Having grown up listening to The Beatles and admiring their incredible journey, it’s hard not to feel connected to these legendary artists.
Ringo Starr is feeling less than stellar — which means his U.S. tour has come to a premature end.
84-year-old ex-Beatle announced the cancellation of the last two performances of his North American tour this summer due to having caught a cold. He made the announcement on Instagram only a few hours before he was set to perform in Philadelphia.
Ringo has fallen ill with a cold, and upon seeking medical advice, he was instructed to skip the final two performances and rest instead. The announcement also confirmed that those who hold tickets for Tuesday’s show, as well as Wednesday’s closing event at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, will automatically receive refunds.
Once again, Ringo and his band, The All Starrs, extend peace, love, and warm wishes to their fans, looking forward to meeting them again soon.
Although a few potential attendees voiced their annoyance due to the late notice, many others offered kind messages instead. One critic, for instance, described the timing as downright wicked, four hours prior to the show.
“Love you Ringo. Hope you feel better soon!,” one user wrote.
It’s unfortunate that we can’t meet him tonight, yet what truly matters is his well-being and happiness above all else.
On September 7, Ringo Starr and his band, The All Starrs, commenced their 12-date autumn tour in San Diego. The following day, they were scheduled to perform at the Greek Theatre – a venue that almost coincides with their first show there on September 3, 1989, thirty-five years later.
Starr recounted the incident as if it had just happened. That night was exceptionally vivid, she said,” The Times reported earlier this month. “Los Angeles felt like home to me.
The U.K.-born musician has lived largely in La La Land since the early 1990s.
When we initially arrived here back in ’64, he was wearing a poncho with a holster and a play gun, as he put it. We paid a visit to Burt Lancaster’s place, and he asked, ‘Ringo, what are you up to?’ To which Ringo replied, ‘Dude, I’m in L.A. – I’m a cowboy.’
It was not part of the tour’s playlist for any of the songs from Starr’s April EP “Crooked Boy” – and there was a valid explanation for this, as he explained to Variety in May.
He stated, “If a band ever says, ‘Let’s perform something from our latest album, LP, EP, or CD,’ you can sense the crowd getting up to leave for the bathroom or to shop for merchandise. But with the All Starrs, it’s wonderful because we get to play our hits, which is why we’re there in the first place.
Among the surviving members of the iconic band The Beatles, Starr and Sir Paul McCartney remain alive, with John Lennon having been tragically killed in 1980, and George Harrison passing away from cancer in 2001.
As we approach my birthday in July, I can confidently say that I feel as spry as a fiddler and make it a point to exercise almost daily.
