Rina Sawayama responds to “very heated” John Wick return in new spin-off movie
After the end-credit sequence of John Wick: Chapter 4, Rina Sawayama and Donnie Yen will appear again in an upcoming John Wick side story called Caine.
In the upcoming project, Yen is set to resume his character as the main blind killer, but this time he will also take on the roles of an executive producer and director. On the other hand, Sawayama reappears in her role as the daughter of Shimazu Koji, having some lingering matters to address with Caine.
As the information remains sparse, I had the privilege of having an exclusive chat with Sawayama about the upcoming game, Caine, during the Crunchyroll Anime Awards. It was an exciting opportunity to gain some insights into this intriguing title.

When inquired about her expectations for the forthcoming spinoff, Sawayama playfully replied, “I’d be thrilled for extra training time. More training time would be great!
She went on to say, “I have complete faith in Chad [Stahelski]. The John Wick universe is already so richly developed and I’m confident that Chad incorporates a lot of anime influences into his directing. The John Wick series is incredibly popular because it offers a truly unique action experience.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but express my anticipation for even more intense battles, spectacular pyrotechnics, and high-speed car chases, with the action spreading across various continents. The sequel promises to be bigger and better! My unresolved conflicts with Caine are still burning, so I expect the next installment to be filled with intense emotion and high tension.
She mentioned: “I haven’t learned our destination yet for the shoot, but I’m optimistic that it will be situated in Asia.
As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but echo the sentiments of Chad Stahelski, the visionary director behind John Wick. In his role as producer for Caine, he affectionately labeled Sawayama as an unparalleled badass when her return was announced. His enthusiasm is palpable: “I was enthralled by her performance in Chapter 4 and I eagerly anticipate the moment she encounters Caine once more.
Yen is thrilled to have Rina rejoin our team for this fresh adventure, and I look forward to doing my best to bring out the captivating qualities of her character, as seen in ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’,” said Yen.
Caine marks the third installment in the action series, following the 2023 miniseries titled “The Continental” on Prime Video, and an upcoming movie called “Ballerina,” starring Ana de Armas as Eve Macarro, which is set between “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum” and “John Wick: Chapter 4.
Eligible new and returning customers can enjoy a complimentary 30-day trial for Amazon Prime, after which they have the opportunity to subscribe to Crunchyroll as an additional channel on their Prime Video service.
Ballerina is released in cinemas on 6 June. Caine does not yet have a release date.
