Riley Keough shares rare photos of late mom Lisa Marie Presley and dad Danny
As I delve into the captivating narrative of Lisa Marie Presley, a woman who lived her life under the shadow of her iconic father Elvis Presley, yet carved out her own identity with courage and resilience, I find myself deeply moved by her extraordinary journey.
Yesterday, Riley Keough posted some seldom-seen old pictures of her deceased mother, Lisa Marie Presley, and father Danny Keough, on her Instagram, following the completion of the promotional tour for Lisa Marie’s posthumous memoir titled “From Here To The Great Unknown.
Additionally, she added a passage from Lisa Marie’s book on her matrimony with former spouse Danny, spanning from 1988 until their separation in 1994, among the collection of family snapshots.
Lisa Marie Presley wrote: ‘Were Danny and I destined to remain married for eternity? Absolutely not. Neither of us harbored such thoughts. However, we were a unique kind of soulmates who managed to live together in the same house, somehow.’
In one of the vintage pictures shared, I’m seen cradled by my father, Danny, while grinning next to Lisa Marie, who was holding her dear son, Benjamin, on a lap that would sadly lose him to suicide in 2020.

In 1985, Riley’s parents initially crossed paths at the Scientology Celebrity Center in Los Angeles. They started dating a short while later, maintaining their relationship for approximately three years.
In October 1988, they got married at the Scientology Celebrity Centre, and their first child, Riley, was born in May 1989.
In about three years, Riley’s brother Benjamin, who bore a strong likeness to their grandpa Elvis, was set to arrive.
In the end, their love as partners didn’t manage to keep their bond alive, and they chose to part ways in the year 1994.
Their divorce was finalized before the end of that year.
Regardless of their separation, they continued to maintain a friendship and shared the responsibility of parenting their kids, who grew up in various locations such as California, Hawaii, and Florida.
Unfortunately, the ex-pair faced the heartbreaking loss of Benjamin, who took his own life in Calabasas, California, back in July 2020.
It’s said that he faced challenges with his mental health, along with the stress of meeting expectations tied to the Presley family name, prior to his death at the age of 27.
Approximately three years following the death of her son, Lisa Marie was discovered unconscious at her residence in Calabasas on January 12, 2023.
Her passing occurred mere days following their attendance at the Golden Globes in Los Angeles alongside her mother, Priscilla Presley, marking her final appearance.
After thorough examination, the Medical Examiner’s Office in Los Angeles concluded that Elvis Presley passed away due to a blockage in his small intestine, which was a complication resulting from adhesions formed following previous bariatric surgery.
But Riley recently told PEOPLE that Lisa Marie ‘died of a broken heart’ after Benjamin’s death.
Following her divorce with Keough, Lisa Marie had short-lived marriages with Michael Jackson and Nicolas Cage afterward.
After that, she got married to Michael Lockwood, who she was with for 15 years before they divorced in 2021. Their former partnership produced twin daughters, Harper and Finley, who are now 16 years old.
In her autobiography, Lisa Marie candidly discusses her deep affection for the deceased Elvis Presley and the challenges she faced following his passing.
Additionally, she shared insights into various aspects of her life, including past romantic relationships, experiences as a mother, the tragic loss of her son Benjamin through suicide, and the arrival of her granddaughter, Tupelo (who is two years old), in her recently published book.
Just before Lisa Marie took an unexpected leave, I pledged to assist her in completing the memoir she had nearly written.
Riley, a renowned actress, took on the task while grieving and ultimately finished writing her memoir by reviewing numerous recordings that Lisa Marie had made earlier in preparation for the book’s release.
Additionally, Riley contributed to the narration for the audiobook version of the memoir, alongside the Academy Award-winning actress, Julia Roberts.
On October 9, Keough commenced his book tour by stopping at The Strand at Cooper Union in New York City, where he was joined by journalist Gayle King.
After that, I made my way back to the Presley abode of Graceland, where I engaged in a chat with Nicole Richie in Memphis, Tennessee. Subsequently, I journeyed to St. Louis, sharing moments with Billy Corgan, the lead vocalist of Smashing Pumpkins. My adventures continued in Nashville, Tennessee, and London, England.
