Rihanna’s British company, Denim UK Holdings, reportedly lost $36 million (about £27 million) due to an unsuccessful fashion collaboration with Louis Vuitton.
Rihanna, the American singer, started her fashion line, Fenty, in 2019 with a partnership with a high-end French brand. However, the line wasn’t successful and closed after two years, partly due to challenges caused by the pandemic.
Because of travel restrictions caused by the Covid pandemic, Rihanna, who is very involved in the design process, wasn’t able to visit the workshop in Paris or the factories in Italy where her products were being made, according to reports from that time.
When Rihanna started her new business, she invested €29.99 million (about $34.86 million). LVMH, the company that owns Louis Vuitton, contributed €30 million (around $34.88 million).
The French company was named Project Loud France, a reference to Rihanna’s album, Loud.
Rihanna, with an estimated wealth of $1.4 billion, invested in Denim UK Holdings, giving her a 49.99% ownership stake in the company.

In 2021, Rihanna and LVMH agreed to stop their fashion line to concentrate on her cosmetics and lingerie brands.
LVMH and Rihanna announced they would be focusing their efforts on expanding the Fenty brand, particularly in the areas of cosmetics, skincare, and lingerie, with a long-term vision for growth.
Fenty, named after Rihanna’s full name, Robyn Rihanna Fenty, was created to expand on her previous makeup collaboration with LVMH, offering a complete line of clothing, shoes, and accessories.
However, the new collection was expensive – almost $1,000 for a quilted denim jacket and $810 for a fitted shirtdress – and didn’t attract as much attention as her previous designs.
Fenty’s clothing line was designed for luxury buyers, but Fenty Beauty and Savage X Fenty offered products at more accessible prices.
The launch received attention from leading fashion magazines, including Vogue, which announced in May 2019 that Rihanna’s new fashion line, supported by LVMH, was finally revealed.
Rihanna’s new luxury brand, Fenty, featuring clothing, shoes, and accessories, will make its debut in Paris.
Rihanna explained in a statement that women are powerful and complex, possessing both strength and vulnerability. She said Fenty Beauty aims to celebrate all aspects of that complexity.
Sometimes I want to take a backseat, other times I want to lead, and often I feel like doing both. That’s why it was so important to us to design a collection that could celebrate all sides of who we are.
These pieces are designed to be mixed and matched and become everyday essentials. I’m really excited to see people wearing my designs!
The Daily Mail has contacted Rihanna’s representatives for comment.

Rihanna started her career as a singer, but she’s also become a successful businesswoman with her popular lines of lingerie and makeup.
At just 34 years old, she became the youngest American woman to ever become a billionaire through her own efforts, achieving this milestone in 2022.
She surpassed Kim Kardashian, who was 41 at the time, to become number one, thanks to her successful businesses which have made her a billionaire with a net worth of $1.4 billion.
Rihanna’s incredible financial achievements came to light earlier in the year when Forbes magazine included her on its list of America’s wealthiest self-made women, placing her at number 21.
Rihanna was the youngest woman, under 40, performing in the show’s lineup.
Rihanna, originally from Barbados, was first noticed in 2003 by American music producer Evan Rogers while she was still at home. He was impressed enough to share her demo recording with Def Jam Recordings.
Eventually, her talent reached Jay-Z, the president of Def Jam Recordings. He invited her to audition, immediately recognized her potential, and the rest, as they say, is history.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve always been fascinated by true success stories, and Rihanna’s is incredible. She’s become one of the biggest music artists ever, selling over 250 million records globally! Think about all those iconic hits – ‘Pon de Replay,’ ‘Umbrella,’ ‘SOS,’ ‘Unfaithful,’ ‘Good Girl Gone Bad,’ and ‘Don’t Stop the Music’ – just to name a few that have defined a generation. It’s a testament to her talent and staying power.

Rihanna expanded her career into acting and became a fashion icon, partnering with major brands such as Armani, Dior, and Puma.
In 2017, she temporarily stepped away from music to concentrate on her business, most notably launching Fenty Beauty. This line of makeup – featuring foundations, highlighters, bronzers, blush, and lip glosses – quickly became a huge success, outselling other celebrity-owned cosmetics brands like Kylie Cosmetics and KKW Beauty.
A year after that, she launched Savage X Fenty, her lingerie line. It offers a wide range of sizes to be inclusive of all body types.
Rihanna is continuing to build her business while also growing her family; she and A$AP Rocky recently had their third child.
She welcomed her daughter, Rocki Irish Mayers, into the world last month. She’s also a mom to sons RZA, age three, and Riot, age two.
Rihanna’s incredible journey to fame: From a difficult childhood in Barbados, she became a hugely successful musician.
Rihanna may be one of the biggest stars in the world now, but it took a lot for her to get there.
The popular singer had a difficult upbringing. Her father was abusive and left when she was fourteen, leaving her responsible for her siblings while their mother worked hard to provide for the family.
Rihanna, born Robyn Rihanna Fenty on February 20, 1988, grew up with parents who worked in accounting and warehouse management.
I remember hearing stories about her childhood in Barbados – a cozy three-bedroom home in Saint Michael where she was raised with a big family: two brothers, plus two half-sisters and a half-brother. She had such a strong work ethic even then, helping her dad out by selling clothes at his street stall. It really shaped who she is today.
She later revealed that her father was physically abusive towards her mother and struggled with both alcoholism and a crack cocaine addiction.
Rihanna once told the Guardian that she used to intensely dislike her father. A close school friend pointed out that it wasn’t right to hate a parent. Rihanna later realized her father had taught her many important childhood skills, like swimming and riding a bike.
Ultimately, you have to love your father, and I listened to him for as long as I could, even though it was difficult.
In an interview with Oprah, she shared that her father ‘taught me everything.’ Despite sometimes being difficult with her mother, she emphasized that he was a wonderful father.

When she was fourteen, her parents divorced. She often stayed home to care for her siblings, especially her younger brother, while their mother worked to provide for them.
Growing up, my mom worked incredibly hard to provide for us as a single parent. Honestly, she wasn’t around a lot – she’d often come home late after long shifts. Because of that, I ended up taking on a lot of responsibility for my younger brother. We were incredibly close; he really looked up to me, and in a lot of ways, he saw me as his mother figure. He was my best friend, and I cherished that role in his life.
While in school, she participated in a military-style program called the army cadets, and surprisingly, the musician Shontelle was her drill instructor.
Shontelle recalled years later to the BBC that participating wasn’t required, but she imagined herself and Rihanna dressed in army boots and camouflage, crawling through mud and similar challenging conditions.
While still in high school in 2003, Rihanna started a musical group with two of her classmates.
When Rihanna auditioned for Rogers, she immediately impressed him. He later recalled that she had such a strong presence that it felt like the other candidates weren’t even there.
Rihanna told the Guardian that they started by singing together as a group. Then, after everyone sang individually, Evan Rogers mentioned he wanted to help her land a solo record deal.
It was a tough situation. I didn’t want to upset my friends or go against them, but I had to face the facts. We’d all auditioned, both as a group and on our own, and the outcome was final.

He brought her onto his and Carl Sturken’s record label, Syndicated Rhythm Productions, and then brought her to the United States to create demo recordings. He submitted these demos to Def Jam Recordings hoping to secure a record deal.
When Rihanna first played her demo of “Pon de Replay” for Jay-Z, the head of Def Jam Recordings, he reportedly thought the song was too good for a new artist. However, after hearing her sing it live in early 2005, he signed her right away.
She later moved to the United States and released her first album, Music of the Sun. The album’s lead single, “Pon de Replay,” was released in May 2005 and reached number two on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.
The album was released in August and quickly became popular, earning a gold certification and selling over two million copies around the world.
Her second album, A Girl Like Me, was released in April 2006 and reached the top 10 in 13 countries around the world.
She continued her music career, releasing the albums Good Girl Gone Bad in May 2007 and Rated R in November 2009.
In October 2010, Rihanna began working with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation management team. Shortly after, in November 2010, she released her fifth album, Loud, which proved to be another hit.
Rihanna followed up with the albums Talk That Talk in November 2011, Unapologetic in November 2012, and Anti in January 2016.

Throughout her career, she consistently achieved chart-topping success with 14 number-one singles. She also sold out concert tours around the globe and worked with a wide range of popular artists, including Eminem, Shakira, Kanye West, Paul McCartney, Calvin Harris, Coldplay, Maroon 5, Nicki Minaj, Kendrick Lamar, and Britney Spears.
As a lifestyle expert, I’m always impressed by true talent, and this artist definitely has it! Her incredible music has been recognized with so many awards over the years – nine Grammys, twelve Billboard Music Awards, thirteen American Music Awards, and eight People’s Choice Awards, just to name a few. It’s a testament to her lasting impact and connection with fans.
Besides her singing career, she’s also an actress who has appeared in several popular films, including “Bring It On: All or Nothing” (2006), the action movie “Battleship”, “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets” with Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevingne, and the comedy “Ocean’s 8”.
She appeared in season five of Bates Motel and provided the voice for the lead character in the DreamWorks animated movie Home, alongside Jim Parsons and Jennifer Lopez.
In 2015, she secured a $25 million deal with Samsung to endorse their Galaxy line of products. The following year, in 2016, she invested in and became a part-owner of the music streaming service, Tidal.
