Rihanna is FINALLY readying release of ninth studio album after eight-year drought - and 'headlining Glastonbury' to celebrate: 'The wait is almost over'

As a longtime fan of Rihanna, I must say that her life and career continue to astound me. From her music to her fashion line, Fenty, she consistently pushes boundaries and sets trends. The news about her potential performance at Glastonbury Festival and her upcoming album has me absolutely thrilled!

The wait may finally be over for Rihanna long-awaited and desired ninth studio album.

A reliable source within the music industry tells The Sun that the female singer, aged 36, might be planning to launch her new album (LP) soon.

Rihanna’s fans have been eagerly awaiting new music from her since the release of her eighth album, Anti, in 2016. They might even get to see her perform live, as rumors suggest she will headline the 2025 Glastonbury Festival in England.

After launching that album, which garnered some of the best critiques in her career, Rihanna has primarily devoted herself to managing and advertising her thriving cosmetics and lingerie businesses, along with spending time on her relationship with rapper A$AP Rocky.

In May 2022, the lovebirds gave birth to a baby boy named RZA, and then, in August 2023, they welcomed another child, a son named Riot Rose.

“For quite some time now, there’s been a recurring humorous comment about when Rihanna’s ninth album would drop. However, it seems that the moment of truth is nearly here,” the source revealed.

It has been asserted that Rihanna has worked on numerous songs with a variety of artists over the past few years, among them are collaborations with Alesso and Diplo.

The artist who both sings and composes music is said to have moved around various musical styles in an attempt to define her unique sound. However, it’s possible that listeners might not get a chance to hear her discarded attempts at experimentation.

The source added, ‘She’s explored various music genres, from pop to reggae to hip hop and many more in-between. However, to keep the sound new and reflective of Rihanna’s current phase in life, almost all previous work was discarded.’

They found that certain tunes were revised and adapted for the ultimate edition of the album, while many others were discarded entirely when she returned to work on it earlier this year. (or) They discovered that a few tracks had been modified and reused in the final album version, whereas most of them were scrapped completely during her recent return to the design phase.

According to the source, Rihanna has been working in the recording studio for quite some time, and it seems that all the pieces are falling into place at last.

It has been observed that Rihanna usually puts out her albums near the end of the year. However, given the slower pace of vinyl record production, which has experienced a significant rise in popularity recently despite a drop in CD sales, there’s a possibility it could be delayed into early 2025.

Despite the possible postponement in its launch, the new timeline could be perfectly suited for organizing a global tour that Rihanna is rumored to be planning.

Moreover, it was reported that Rihanna would be the main act at the prestigious Glastonbury Festival.

Regardless of the route taken, it appears that 2025 will undoubtedly be her shining moment, as she plans an extensive tour with Live Nation, and there’s even a possibility that Glastonbury could return to the agenda.

According to reports, The Work’s singer was rumored to be covertly preparing for a performance at the upcoming 2023 festival. However, she had to cancel her appearance because she is pregnant with Riot Rose.

At that year’s festival, Elton John, Guns n’ Roses, and Arctic Monkeys took the top three positions as they performed cover versions of popular songs.

After A$AP Rocky releases his fourth album “Don’t Be Dumb” on August 30 of this year, Rihanna is expected to return with new music following that release.

So far, he has unveiled several preliminary tracks from the album, such as D.M.B., Troubling My Mind, Rowdy Pipe’n (RIOT), and The Same Old Problems.

In the previous month, he put out another song serving as a preview for his inaugural fashion line, titled “American Sabotage”. This track showcased the vocals of his two-year-old son, RZA.

Meanwhile, one of Rihanna’s next big projects is to produce Paramount Animation’s The Smurfs Movie.

Rihanna, known for her singing with Diamond, will also have a significant role on screen, as she is scheduled to provide the voice for the character Smurfette.

Even though her eager fans might be disappointed about a new album on the horizon, she’s said to be working on composing and recording multiple new tracks specifically for the movie’s soundtrack.

Alongside Rihanna, The Smurfs Movie boasts an impressive cast that includes Nick Offerman from Parks and Recreation, Natasha Lyonne, JP Karliak, Dan Levy, Amy Sedaris, Nick Kroll, James Corden, Octavia Spencer, Hannah Waddingham known for Ted Lasso, Sandra Oh, Alex Winter, Billie Lourd, Xolo Maridueña, Kurt Russell, and John Goodman.

The family-friendly film arrives in US and UK theaters on February 14, 2025.
