Rihanna Flies to LA Court to Show Support For A$AP Rocky
On a romantic evening in Los Angeles on Tuesday, Rihanna and her partner, A$AP Rocky, displayed unity while they were out together. It’s been reported that she might decide to attend the Los Angeles court to offer her support as A$AP Rocky faces a firearm assault trial.
Rap artist A$AP (real name Rakim Mayers) stands charged with shooting at an ex-friend, potentially facing imprisonment for up to 24 years should he be found guilty. The court proceedings for this case commenced a week ago.
As a devoted partner, I stood firm by Rihanna’s side as we made our way to a restaurant for an enjoyable evening together.
For the evening, The Umbrella singer exuded a chic vibe by pairing a black long leather jacket with a fashionable coordinated double denim ensemble.
Rihanna, the creator of Fenty Beauty, chose a stylish dark blue denim jacket and paired it with relaxed-fit, light-washed jeans.
With her hair cascading freely in its long, dark flow, Rihanna elongated her silhouette by slipping into a set of snakeskin-patterned boots. She completed the look with a stylish pair of black-framed eyeglasses.
Simultaneously, A$AP donned an eye-catching ensemble consisting of a sleek black suit, a pristine white shirt, and a slim dark tie.
Instead of choosing a formal suit, the songwriter known for “Praise the Lord” decided on a trench coat and accessorized with sunglasses.
It appears that Rihanna might be planning to attend the criminal trial of her boyfriend in Los Angeles court, demonstrating her solidarity with him.
Reports from TMZ on Monday indicated that the singer was considering whether or not to attend her upcoming court hearing, as the trial for the criminal case started a week ago.
A$AP has denied the charges of assaulting someone with a semi-automatic weapon, which are linked to allegations he fired shots at A$AP Relli in Hollywood last year (2021).
During jury selection, the lawyer’s discussions frequently referenced a well-known individual originally from Barbados, who is also a beauty icon – this person happens to be Rihanna. The attorneys inquired about potential jurors’ affinity for Rihanna or their purchases from her Fenty fashion line, according to reports from the news outlet.
According to reliable sources, the Grammy-winning artist, who has two kids with A$AP Rocky (a son named RZA, aged 2, and a daughter Riot Rose, aged 1), may not show up in court today but could possibly attend at a later point this week.
News emerges that the singer from Diamonds might make an appearance, following the seating of a jury composed of five men and seven women just last Thursday for the trial. The individual in question has plead not guilty to accusations involving firing a weapon at his ex-friend.
The highly anticipated trial of a 36-year-old influential hip-hop artist and fashion designer, based in Los Angeles, officially commenced on Friday following the swearing-in of the 12 main jurors and 4 alternates.
Instead of accepting a prosecution deal for a 180-day jail term, Rocky opted to gamble on potentially spending years in prison if the jury finds him guilty of two felony charges involving assault with a semiautomatic weapon. He maintains his innocence and his lawyer asserts that he did not commit any crime.
Rather than choosing to avoid the charges, he decided to face trial for two counts of assault using a semi-automatic weapon. If found guilty, these charges could result in a prison sentence of up to 24 years.
In under 2 and a half days, both parties selected jurors from a large group of over a hundred potential candidates who filled a courthouse in downtown Los Angeles.
Among the selected individuals, there’s a woman who serves as both a podcast editor and an actor, a man with over two decades of experience at Trader Joe’s, and a former judge who now enjoys retirement.
In this scenario, some individuals were let off due to specific reasons, while others were dismissed by either of the two parties. Each party was allowed to dismiss up to ten jurors without providing a reason. The defense team utilized seven of their dismissals, whereas the prosecution only used two.
On Thursday, a man who serves civically within the Los Angeles Police Department and boasts deep-rooted connections in law enforcement (with a cousin being listed as a potential witness for this case, though he isn’t anticipated to testify) raised questions.
In my role as a devoted follower, I would express it this way: “Following the judge’s decision not to dismiss me for cause, my attorney, Joe Tacopina, chose to release me from jury duty. So, here’s an unexpected twist: we’re grateful and releasing juror number 27.
Police attitudes were frequently discussed during the process of selecting jurors. On occasion, Judge Mark Arnold, a previous sheriff’s deputy himself, engaged in passionate exchanges with individuals expressing distrust towards law enforcement, coming close to debating with them.
He inquired from a female speech therapist if it would be reasonable to doubt all speech therapists due to his negative encounter with one.
Arnold asked the potential juror, “Could you share some information on the reported instances of corruption within the LAPD, which I assume you’ve either come across in reading or through conversations?
Whenever the Rodney King case came up in conversation, I’d often find myself questioning aloud, “Are we really still holding today’s law enforcement accountable for actions that occurred before many of them even joined the force?
The majority of the questions revolved around the celebrity status of both Rocky and particularly Rihanna, his long-term partner and mom of their two young kids. However, it’s uncertain if she will attend court during the trial, as she was absent on Thursday.
Suppose Rihanna were to appear in this courtroom, would it possibly be challenging for you to maintain focus, catch a glimpse of the defendant’s relatives, and still make an impartial decision regarding their case?” This is how Deputy District Attorney John Lewin posed his question to one woman.
After a long pause, she said ‘yes.’
In Hollywood, 2021, it was alleged that Rocky discharged several rounds, possibly between three and four, at Terell Ephron, an old acquaintance from his youth. According to Ephron, the bullets merely brushed against his knuckles. However, Rocky has maintained his innocence by claiming he wasn’t carrying a real firearm, but instead, a prop starter pistol.
