Ridge Barredo’s Shocking Proposal Prank Leaves Fans Divided!

On Saturday, Ridge Barredo left spectators astonished as he knelt down, hinting at significant relationship developments with his partner, Jade Pywell.

However, contrary to what appeared to be the case, the participant from Married At First Sight, aged 29, unexpectedly turned things around by confessing that his actions were merely a trick, and he hadn’t genuinely proposed as it seemed.

In an Instagram post, the smitten pair was spotted basking in the sunlight atop a boat, seemingly proposing playfully, as Ridge feigned a proposal.

The intricate joke started by inviting Jade, aged 27, to snap a picture with him near the boat’s edge, as a suggestion.

With one child by her side, the woman – clad only in a bikini top – stood soaked from head to waist, having donned just the bottom half of a wetsuit for the photo shoot.

Then, Ridge took hold of Jade’s left hand with his own and knelt down, causing Jade to gaze at him in a mixture of surprise and delight, thinking that he was proposing.

Yet, as the trickster gazed upward at her and moved in closer, he unexpectedly pushed her into the water beside them instead.

Jade seemed to find the prank amusing, as she posted the video to her Instagram Stories, playfully referencing it.

Wow, more challenging than expected to obtain a ring, she wrote, accompanying the video with a solitary teardrop emoji.

However, it seemed that Jade wasn’t upset, but instead, numerous supporters of the pair flooded the comment section to criticize Ridge for his humorous remark.

One individual commented, “That’s tough luck, seems like you have to deal with this honestly now,” while the other responded, “This is unkind, Ridge.

A third commented: ‘On no… this is not.’ 

‘Cruel not funny,’ added another.

‘Not deeeeece,’ one user wrote, referencing Ridge’s ‘deece’ catchphrase which means ‘decent’. 

After Jade and her MAFS partner discussed their future, it appears that they might be considering starting a family soon.

In an interview with Daily Mail Australia back in August, the duo – who found each other and fell for one another during MAFS 2024 – shared their aspirations to expand their family.

When asked about their sex life, Ridge was quick to deflect.

He began by suggesting, “Feel free to proceed…”, but instead, he playfully passed the responsibility on to someone else. Lightheartedly, he chimed in with, “Definitely,” using slang.

‘She’s not pregnant yet, though, which is a bit annoying,’ he quipped with a laugh.

He mentioned that she was wearing a ring, but it wasn’t the one he had thought. Instead, he suggested there might be another ring, implying that Jade desired an official engagement before they started planning for a baby.

In response to being queried about whether they had talked about starting a family, Ridge clarified that Jade desired to get married prior to having a child.

‘She said yes to the next person who I will get married to or engaged to,’ he revealed.

Jade, with a child named Victoria from before, made it just as plain what she intended.

She clarified that indeed her preference is for two children who are close in age. This has been a long-held desire of hers.

She prefers being engaged first, with a ring, before considering starting a family. She’s firm about her decision on this matter.
