Ricky Gervais, 63, shares his health fears as he discusses getting older and admits he always thinks he is ‘dying’ after Googling his symptoms
Ricky Gervais openly discussed his health concerns, confessing that searching for his symptom descriptions online often makes him feel like he’s facing imminent mortality.
On Jimmy Kimmel Live recently, the comedian, aged 63, openly talked about growing older and his health issues, sharing his thoughts honestly.
He acknowledged that each day serves as a constant reminder of growing older for him, and he mentioned that his current state of health is likely the best it will ever be, given his morning mobility concerns, during the conversation.
Sharing some news with his followers, he mentioned: “This is the best it’s going to be, and I won’t improve any further – I hope that makes sense.
Instead of casually dismissing someone because they’re older, I find myself thinking, “Just as I wouldn’t expect him to improve at 70 if he was poor at 60, my aging process reminds me daily that time takes its toll, making movements sluggish and increasing discomfort.

In the morning, as soon as I rise and make my way down the stairs, it feels as if I’m walking on prosthetic limbs – or a pirate might feel with wooden ones. They’re not artificial today, more like bionic, but stiff and painful. Is that clear?
Ricky shared that he frequently searches for his health issues online using Google, which often leaves him in a state of panic as he reads about different diseases he might be suffering from.
As I rise each morning, I find myself pondering, “Ah, I’ve discovered a lump or discomfort,” prompting me to seek Jane’s opinion: “Jane, what could this potentially be?
She says, ‘You should see a doctor,’ and I respond, ‘Do you really think it warrants a visit to the doctor?’ She replies, ‘I’m not sure.’
As a lifestyle enthusiast, when I encounter an unfamiliar health issue, my go-to solution is to seek information online. I type in the symptoms I’m experiencing, and lo and behold, the top suggestions appear. It seems it could be stress, a course of illness, or perhaps dietary issues. The mystery continues!
Initially, I exclaim enthusiastically, “That’s fantastic! That’s fantastic! That’s acceptable, that’s acceptable, that’s acceptable.” Then, taking a risk with my luck, number seven comes up as cancer. I respond to Jane, “Jane, I’m on the verge of death.”
In response to something positive, I say excitedly, “That’s terrific! That’s terrific! That works, that works, that works.” Then, when number seven turns out to be cancer, I express my grim reality to Jane, “Jane, I’m facing death.
His candid remarks come as he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Friday.
Yet, as he received the accolade, his speech stirred debate by mentioning famous individuals implicated in sexual misconduct accusations.
or
Although he was praised for receiving the award, he sparked a dispute by bringing up celebrities who have faced sexual assault allegations during his acceptance speech.

He playfully remarked that it was an honor to be listed alongside other famous figures who have stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, mentioning names like Michael Jackson, Bill Cosby, and Roscoe ‘Fatty’ Arbuckle.
During his speech, as reported by Variety, Ricky expressed his sincere gratitude for the honor bestowed upon him. He mentioned that being included in such an elite group was a genuine source of excitement for him.
Additionally, it’s fascinating to casually glance around from a moment ago, taking note of the numerous legends, such as Michael Jackson, Bill Cosby, and Fatty Arbuckle.
The three individuals stood trial for their suspected offenses, yet it was only Bill who received a conviction. On the other hand, both the King of Pop and Arbuckle were found not guilty in court.
Ricky chuckled as he started speaking, “What a shocker! Never did I imagine I’d take home the trophy today.
As he unfolded a piece of paper, he added: ‘I haven’t even prepared a speech or anything.’
In his talk, he humorously explained, “First off, allow me to apologize for my attire. It’s not an attempt to appear trendy or disregard the institution; rather, it means I no longer have a properly fitting suit.
Later on, he playfully commented that his role is to not get overly serious about things, and he unexpectedly delivered his contentious joke right when he declared he would attempt to be sincere.

Ricky frequently employs humorous but contentious, uncensored remarks, which commonly lead to criticism due to their perceived insensitivity in his stand-up routine.
The actor known for co-creating hit sitcoms such as The Office and Extras drew criticism due to his allegedly inappropriate humor during his five consecutive stints hosting the Golden Globe Awards from 2010 to 2012, and again in 2016 and 2020.
Despite his absence at this year’s event, he did reveal some surprising jokes that he would have shared had he hosted the 82nd Golden Globes instead of Nikki Glaser.
