Ricki-Lee Coulter reveals how Hollywood actor saved her during desperate time: ‘I have to thank you’
As a dedicated follower of music and stories of resilience, I find Ricki-Lee Coulter‘s journey truly inspiring. Her life experience, marked by moments of doubt and rejuvenation, mirrors the ebb and flow of any artist’s career. The twist in her tale, however, is the unexpected role played by an Oscar-winning actor, Jared Leto.
Ricki-Lee Coulter shared that she nearly gave up on creating music, but a renowned Academy Award winner played a significant role in encouraging her to continue.
The admission came on her Nova drive show Ricki-Lee, Tim and Joel on Thursday when the Do It Like That hitmaker received a face-time from a very surprising guest.
52-year-old Academy Award-winning actor Jared Leto made a guest appearance on the program to engage in conversation with Rikki-Lee, 38, and her fellow hosts, Joel Creasey and Tim Blackwell.
Excitedly, Ricki-Lee couldn’t help but have a starstruck reaction when Jared, the actor from Morbius, popped up on the screen, causing her to express her admiration immediately.
After the initial surprise passed, Ricki-Lee remarked that she was attempting to act casual since she’s such an avid admirer of this situation.
In her own words, Rikki-Lee shared, ‘I owe you a debt of gratitude since you played a crucial role when I was struggling to reignite my creativity as a songwriter and performer, especially since I’m a singer and a music artist.’
The radio host went on to admit that when her husband Richard Harrison introduced her to Jared’s band 30 Seconds To Mars it reignited the spark.
She mentioned that around 2009 or 2010, he showed her the music video for “From Yesterday.” It sparked my creativity right away, she added.
Ricki-Lee extended her heartfelt gratitude, sharing with Jared that witnessing 30 Seconds To Mars perform had ignited her determination to keep creating music.
She told me that in around 2010, he brought me to watch your performance at The Forum in Melbourne.
As a connoisseur of all things vibrant and lively, I found myself amidst a crowd of individuals, a sea of faces that, for a moment, felt foreign to me. Yet, there was an undeniable resonance in the melodies that filled the room – a harmony that echoed my own experiences of not quite fitting in. It seems your music is a testament to embracing the outsider within us all.
‘You find your people and you fit in.’
Ricki-Lee’s past experiences revitalized her flagging passion for her music career, and her subsequent album, “Fear and Diamonds” (released in 2012), reached No. 7 on the ARIA charts.
Her latest album On My Own, which dropped in March this year, hit number 3 on the ARIA album chart.
She mentioned that it sparked something within her, and from then on, she seemed to retreat a bit, focusing on creating music. Afterward, she returned with two platinum-selling singles featured in her next album.
“Your help was instrumental, as I was considering giving up just then. You served as my inspiration, leading me to take action beyond that point.”
Delighted by Ricki-Lee’s confession, Jared expressed his joy in discovering creative motivation from other artists, specifically citing Andy Warhol and David Bowie as sources of inspiration. He referred to this process as incredibly inspiring or simply a beautiful thing.

Sharing the conversation on Instagram, she enthusiastically continued about Jared by saying: ‘Contrary to what they say, meeting your idols is a delightful experience!’
The interview took me by surprise as I hadn’t expected it nor knew who the interviewee would be. However, I was informed that there was no need for me to prepare specific questions, instead, I should trust my instincts. And so, that’s exactly what I did.
Ricki-Lee’s fans were quick to gush over the inspirational post.
