Rick & Morty Season 8 Reveals Return of Underrated Birdperson’s Daughter

Head’s Up: The article you’re about to read includes spoilers for Rick & Morty season 8, episode 2 titled “Valkyrick”. The popular series Rick & Morty has always boasted an impressive ensemble of supporting characters, but one often overlooked character made a comeback in season 8, hinting at a possible new direction. Despite some criticism after Justin Roiland’s departure during season 7, Rick and Morty season 8 feels like a fresh start with all the right elements. The show still pushes boundaries, as evidenced by Rick getting his own episode, but it strikes an excellent balance between offering intriguing stories, exciting adventures, and preserving the unique humor that has become synonymous with Rick & Morty.

The show is excelling once more in utilizing its supporting characters innovatively. While the season 8 premiere primarily focused on the Smith family, “Valkyrick” spotlighted Rick aiding Space Beth in her mission against the Gromflomites’ corrupt doctor. However, they didn’t embark on this journey alone. Following some complications with their original strategy, they were joined by reliable Gromflomites, as well as a few familiar faces summoned by Rick. This episode saw the comeback of two significant side characters, and one guest appearance was particularly thrilling.

Birddaughter Made Another Appearance In Rick & Morty Season 8 After Returning In Season 7’s Premiere

Birddaughter Is Becoming A Frequently Recurring Supporting Character

Initially introduced in season 5, it was uncertain how much of a supporting role Birddaughter would play in Rick and Morty. However, her reappearance in the season 7 premiere and subsequent appearance in “Valkyrick” indicate that she may be growing as an important character. Given Birdperson’s popularity among fans and his close bond with Rick, it’s not surprising to see Birddaughter becoming more significant. Raised in a Galactic Federation prison, Birddaughter exhibited hostility and aggression, but it appears that Birdperson has channeled his own violence towards improving their relationship over time.

In episode 2 of season 8, Birdaughter made a significant appearance, joining forces with Rick and Space Beth on their mission. Delighting in it, she mercilessly dispatched multiple Gromflomites. Although her primary function was to assist in combating the villains, she also played a crucial role in rescuing Rick and Space Beth before the cave’s destruction, demonstrating that she remains a valuable ally despite her propensity for violence. Given her minor roles in earlier seasons, it was gratifying to see Birdaughter take center stage more prominently in this season, hinting that we might see more of her going forward.

I Hope Rick & Morty Makes Birddaughter’s Cameos A Common Trend

Rick & Morty Still Has A Lot To Explore Regarding Birdperson’s Daughter

Given her unpredictable nature, I’m eagerly anticipating Rick and Morty to keep featuring Birdaugher frequently. Despite her affinity for violence and apparent dislike for social interaction, there seems to be a wealth of potential yet unexplored facets of the character. The series could greatly benefit from further development, delving into aspects like her past with the Galactic Federation prison. This history could offer insights into how it shaped her, as well as what particular incidents led to her aggressive tendencies.

Moreover, it appears that she might have picked up some characteristics from her mother, Tammy, a past antagonist in Rick and Morty. This could pave the way for an engaging narrative in the future. The concept of Birddaughter grappling with the decision to follow her mother’s path or choosing to be good like her father is intriguing. It could also extend the exploration of Rick and Morty’s solo episodes, as the plot might not provide much scope for Morty due to its focus on Birddaughter.

In addition, it’d be amusing to explore how Birddaughter behaves with other children, similar to Morty. Imagine Rick compelling Morty to spend time with Birddaughter while he embarks on an adventure with Birdperson. This setup could offer insights into Birddaughter’s character and emphasize her distinctiveness.

Regardless of the direction Rick and Morty takes with the character, having Birddaughter around would undeniably mean more Birdperson, which is always a plus. I hope she develops into a regular ally in future episodes for a long time.
