Richard Madden’s new movie debuts with 0% Rotten Tomatoes rating

As a seasoned gamer and film enthusiast who has survived countless lackluster sequels, remakes, and adaptations, I must say that my latest cinematic journey with “Killer Heat” feels like traversing an uncharted level on the highest difficulty setting – but not in a good way.

The debut movie of Richard Madden, who plays in both “Game of Thrones” and “Bodyguard,” received a zero rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

In the thrilling movie “Killer Heat,” the actor shares the screen with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Shailene Woodley. This film centers on an American detective residing in Greece, who delves into the enigma of a puzzling demise, and encounters unexpected twists and turns at every bend.

Added to Prime Video this week, the film received some brutal reviews from critics.

Here’s what some of the reviews have said:

The Guardian

The storyline feels predictably ordinary, from beginning to end. The private investigator, the mysterious woman, the brooding husband, the powerful mob matriarch – they all speak in worn-out phrases, and their hurried scenes fail to offer any depth beyond stereotypes. Among them, Woodley stands out, injecting a sense of emotional heft into her lines, bringing a touch of humanity that is otherwise missing from this production.

In a more straightforward manner: “Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays a caricature of Leslie Nielsen’s style, but without the humor or cleverness, while Madden is stuck in a loop of repeatedly tightening his jaw and flexing his muscles.

New York Times

As a gamer, I’ve got to admit that the plot twists and ordinary dramatic scenes were quite a slog to navigate through. Sadly, Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s usual charm seems to have taken a backseat in this role; it’s like his cheap private investigator attire is swallowing him up rather than the other way around.

In the story “Killer Heat,” excitement is scarce as it focuses more on uninteresting conflicts and dull conversations. The narrative attempts to create an atmospheric noir feel by exploring possible murder and smoldering envy, but unfortunately, it offers little substance for the reader to engage with in this shallow production.

Decider

“Nice photography and costumes and an attractive cast can’t compensate for a flimsy screenplay that’s about to blow away in a warmish breeze.”

Killer Heat is available to stream now on Prime Video.
