Richard Gere, 75, and wife Alejandra Silva, 41, celebrating Thanksgiving in Spain ahead of Madrid move
As an ardent fan of Richard Gere, I’ve followed his illustrious career with unbridled admiration for decades. But what truly captivates me is not just his acting prowess, but his personal life journey that seems to mirror a beautiful Spanish tango. His decision to relocate to Madrid with his family and celebrate Thanksgiving abroad, in the heart of Alejandra’s vibrant Spanish family, adds another fascinating chapter to this dance.
Richard Gere won’t be celebrating Thanksgiving in the U.S. this year.
The 75-year-old actor shared that he intends to enjoy a traditional turkey meal in his wife’s homeland, Spain, as they prepare for their move to Madrid.
41-year-old Alejandra Silva, Gere’s spouse, is a native of Spain. The family, including their kids, plan to relocate to the beautiful Mediterranean nation in the future.
During an interview on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, the actress from The Runaway Bride shared details about her major relocation and holiday celebrations.
In his speech about the move, Geri started by saying, ‘My wife is from Spain.’ He then added humorously, ‘I hope this isn’t causing any trouble for anyone here?’ When he noticed the audience sighing sadly, Jimmy stepped in to reassure him, expressing that they would all miss him.
‘I’ll be back,’ he promised.
He added, “My partner is from Spain, and she’s been with me for roughly seven years here. Therefore, we plan to spend a few years living in Madrid.
‘Our kids are bilingual so they’re going to flourish there,’ he said.
The actor playfully claimed fluency in fifteen languages, saying, “I can speak all of these languages flawlessly. I wouldn’t want to overwhelm you with my abilities right away!
Gere then confirmed he was spending the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday abroad: ‘There, in Spain.’
I excitedly shared: “Growing up, my wife hails from a vast, lively Spanish clan, reminiscent of an extended Italian family. Her dear grandmother served as the binding force, keeping us all connected.
Approximately one and a half years have passed since the grandmother’s demise. Now, it seems as if my wife is adopting the role of the matriarch in our extended family. Consequently, she has started planning meals for about 35 people on Sundays.
Overjoyed by his most recent chapter of family happiness, the celebrity expressed that nothing could be finer than being a dad to three kids and being married to Alejandra.
He stated, “She is exceptional in every way, my wife. A wonderful mother. Our children are thriving and content. Beyond that, there’s nothing greater.
In 2018, the renowned movie star tied the knot with Alejandra, following a two-year relationship. Since then, they have been blessed with two children, Alexander who is now five years old, and James, their four-year-old son.
Additionally, Richard, like his former wife and actress Carey Lowell, co-parents their son Homer. The unique name ‘Homer’ was chosen in honor of both his paternal grandfathers, and also because it serves as the middle name ‘Jigme’, a name of Tibetan origin.
He and Carey married in 2002 but later separated in 2013 after 11 years of marriage.
The latest update comes after the couple sold their expansive Connecticut ranch ahead of the move.
Gere sold the nearly two-acre New Canaan estate for $10.75 million, according to Mansion Global.

He said to the magazine, “Since she gave me a full six years of life in my world, I believe it’s only right for me to offer her at least another six years in her own.
Richard and Alejandra’s romantic journey started in the year 2014, as fate brought them together once more in Italy, having initially crossed paths several years prior through a common acquaintance.
Regardless of a gap of 34 years between them, they swiftly connected on common interests such as charitable endeavors and spiritual beliefs.
They married in a private ceremony at Gere’s estate in upstate New York in 2018.
