RICHARD EDEN’ M&S heir checks out of London for tax haven

Marks & Spencer is a classic British brand, but a significant member of the family who founded the company has left the Labour Party, led by Keir Starmer.

Jonathan Sieff, who works with King Charles in business, has reportedly moved abroad, becoming one of many wealthy people leaving the UK for countries with lower taxes.

David Sieff, a descendant of M&S founder Michael Marks, has sold his house in Kensington, London, for £18 million and relocated to Monaco. Michael Marks and Thomas Spencer originally founded M&S in Leeds back in 1884.

As a lifestyle expert focused on sustainability, I’m really excited about what Polymateria is doing. They’re the company behind the biodegradable cups used at Taylor Swift’s recent world tour – a fantastic way to reduce plastic waste at a massive event! What’s also interesting is their investor base; they’ve got some pretty notable backers, including the King, which really highlights the growing interest in eco-friendly solutions.

Records show the King purchased a 0.25% share in the company and visited Polymateria’s headquarters, demonstrating his support.

According to a friend, Jonathan Sieff, 59, a father of two, began stating he lived in Monaco a few years ago. He kept his UK house until financial difficulties led him to sell it last December. While £18 million seems like a large sum, the property actually had three separate mortgages against it.

He’s decided he no longer wants to live in the UK. Like many people, he’s feeling quite down about the current situation.

The London home of the late businessman Joseph Sieff, located near Holland Park and sold last December, was the site of a dispute with his neighbor, Robbie Williams. Sieff had complained that renovations to Williams’ large, 46-room property disturbed his family’s peace and quiet.

Sieff did not respond to a request for comment.

People have often commented on how Nicola Sturgeon’s style has changed over the years, and the former First Minister herself agrees her younger self wouldn’t recognize it. She used to favor a more casual look – jeans, a warm jacket, and Dr. Martens boots – and would likely be shocked by her current preference for smart suits and high heels, wondering why she felt the need to change.

Hoyle hikes chaplain’s daily bread

Sir Lindsay Hoyle, the Speaker of the House of Commons, is seeking a new chaplain and is offering a generous financial package.

The successful candidate will receive a generous salary that keeps pace with rising costs, along with rent-free housing – a three-bedroom home in Pimlico – and a substantial pension.

Sir Lindsay plainly has not received the memo about public-sector pay restraint.

The new chaplain will earn around £58,000 annually, which is approximately £10,000 more than what bishops receive. They will also get 30 days of paid leave each year.

Mark Birch, who previously served as Hoyle’s chaplain and was a well-liked canon at Westminster Abbey, earned significantly less than this amount.

He is returning to the Abbey after doing just a year with Hoyle.

Kate Winslet reveals tragic dilemma during the loss of her mother

While promoting her first film as a director, ‘Goodbye June’ – a touching story about a family coping with their mother’s illness in a hospital – Kate Winslet revealed she couldn’t rely on the National Health Service when her own mother, Sally, was dying in 2017.

Kate shares that after her mother’s death, she was cared for in a private hospital room. Her son, Joe Anders, 21, wrote about this experience, and Kate admits the family felt very torn about the situation.

I’m finally talking about this because I haven’t mentioned it before. Throughout her cancer treatment, she received care through the National Health Service. However, near the end, an emergency situation arose, and the only available hospital bed we could find quickly was in a private ward.

‘We all felt really upset for her, because she was so adamant she wanted NHS all the way.’

Freddie Highmore, known for his role in ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ alongside Johnny Depp, had a less-than-magical experience on a family vacation to Spain. Speaking on the Travel Secrets podcast, the 33-year-old actor recounted a birthday trip to Barcelona where, after declaring “I was born to be Spanish” following a paella meal, he spent the entire vacation feeling unwell from bad prawns. It’s become a memorable family story!

Why Anoushka secretly struggles with daily life

Anoushka Shankar, the renowned sitarist and daughter of the late Ravi Shankar, has shared that she lives with ADHD, which makes everyday tasks surprisingly challenging.

Last week was really tough – I was heading towards burnout and barely able to cope,” explains the 44-year-old, who is the half-sister of singer Nora Jones. “I somehow managed to get through it, which is typical for how my ADHD brain works. Things often look okay from the outside, but yesterday I actually tried to unlock my hotel room with my house keys! It’s a funny example, but I have little moments like that happening constantly – about twenty times a day, actually.

Anoushka, a mother of two and ex-wife of film director Joe Wright, admits she often feels overwhelmed. She says she sometimes struggles with even simple tasks, like figuring out what to make for dinner, and finds herself just staring at the fridge when she gets home.

Kiefer Sutherland, the famous actor known for shows like ’24’ and movies like ‘The Lost Boys’, has expressed interest in appearing in a traditional British pantomime. This comes after he filmed his first Christmas movie, ‘Tinsel Town,’ which was shot in Leeds. Sutherland says he wouldn’t say no to the idea, explaining he particularly enjoyed the scenes in the movie where they were performing a stage production of Cinderella. He’s open to it, but would need to consider any potential opportunities before making a decision.
