Richard E. Grant teases MCU return as Classic Loki

As a die-hard Marvel fan with over three decades of superhero fandom under my belt, I must say that Richard E. Grant’s return as Classic Loki in the MCU is nothing short of exhilarating! The man has a knack for playing villainous roles with such charisma and flair, it makes you almost root for the bad guys.

Richard E. Grant has revealed whether he’d return to play Loki in the MCU.

Previously, the renowned actor graced the screens of Disney+’s series “Loki,” portraying a timeless version of the antagonist, complete with the famed horned helmet reminiscent of Norse folklore.

His cameo was part of a madcap twist where Tom Hiddleston’s Loki met variant versions of himself outside of the time-stream, including a child Loki and even an alligator Loki.

In essence, the original trickster Loki finally gave up his life to a vast cosmic being named Alioth, thereby granting freedom to Hiddleston’s Loki and various alternate versions by opening a Time Door for their escape.

Although it seems like the traditional version of Loki has met his end, given the unpredictable nature of the Marvel Universe, Grant stated to Metro that he would gladly reappear “at the blink of an eye”.

As a die-hard fan, I must confess there was one thing that slightly disappointed me regarding Loki. Unlike what I expected given his muscular physique, I never got the chance to don a muscle suit. After all, he’s got those bulging biceps and broad shoulders!

“‘They absolutely refused. And I said, ‘But I’ve got no muscles, born without any’.”

The actor disclosed that an agreement had been made with the producers for him to don a cape throughout many scenes, as it would conceal the fact that he lacks muscle mass.

According to the showrunner Kevin Wright, it’s quite uncertain if there will be a third season for Loki, but he seems open to the idea of a spin-off series instead.

For the past two seasons, I’ve taken great joy in collaborating with this team… I eagerly look forward to continuing our shared journey and crafting more tales together, within this realm, as expressed to TVLine.

We wouldn’t want to hastily start season 3 unless we have an engaging tale to share. However, I believe this group has the potential to explore other interesting narratives instead.

Perhaps instead of “Loki” season 3, we might explore more at the TVA. It could serve as a sort of prequel or companion series to “Loki,” similar to how “Better Call Saul” functioned as a prequel to “Breaking Bad.” That idea appeals to me.

Loki season 1 and season 2 is streaming on Disney+.
