Richard Branson’s daughter Holly praises her parents for letting her identify as a boy for SEVEN years: ‘They never made me feel strange’
In my perspective, I am incredibly grateful that my parents, Sir Richard Branson and his wife, were supportive and understanding when I chose to identify as a boy during my childhood. Their open-mindedness and boundless love have been truly empowering, allowing me to grow into the person I am today.
43-year-old daughter of a Virgin tycoon’s billionaire CEO, posted a touching Instagram message honoring her mother Joan on her 80th birthday this Tuesday. She reminisced about her unique childhood experience, living as a boy from the age of four until close to eleven. Remarkably, her parents always made sure she never felt unusual or out of place during this period.
Sharing an old picture of my mom, I expressed: ‘The past couple of weeks have been overflowing with heartfelt affection and enchanting family experiences.’
In me, the die-hard fan, there’s an unquenchable thirst for the vibrant mix of camaraderie – whether it’s new faces or old pals, scrumptious dishes that tickle my taste buds, tunes that stir my soul, some awkward dancing moves that make me giggle, and a contagious wave of laughter that echoes through the air.
I’m overflowing with joy after an early party for my brother Sam on his 40th birthday, which was swiftly succeeded by a beautiful celebration for our mom on her 80th.

She went on to say: “My mother prefers to stay out of the limelight, yet there are some incredibly valuable lessons I’ve gleaned from her that I’d like to pass along.
What stands out the most about my mom is her capacity for unconditional love… Raising a daughter who, at the age of four, expressed the desire to live as a boy undoubtedly posed challenges that she had to navigate back then.
As a lifestyle connoisseur, let me express my heartfelt gratitude to my parents who, throughout my journey, consistently instilled a sense of normalcy within me, never making me feel peculiar or out of place. Their unwavering love and understanding have been instrumental in shaping the person I am today.
Holly, mother of three kids with her spouse Freddie Andrewes, commented: “My mom has consistently shown an open-heartedness, understanding, and kindness.
As an ardent admirer, I must express my gratitude for granting Sam and me the liberty to blossom into the individuals we yearned to be. Through this journey, I’ve come to understand that unwavering love and encouragement are not complete without a generous dose of patience – a lesson skillfully imparted by you, Mum.
Previously, Holly, the Chief Purpose and Vision Officer at Virgin, has recounted her childhood experiences, which included dressing like a boy, adopting a style of standing to urinate, and choosing various masculine names for herself.
During an interview on Natalie Pinkham’s podcast in 2021, she shared: “When I was four years old, I identified as a male. It wasn’t that I aspired to be a boy; rather, I felt like I already was one. This decision came shortly after my brother was born, and perhaps I admired his presence.
My passion for this never waned like a fleeting summer romance; instead, it endured, unfading, all the way until I stood on the precipice of my eleventh year.

She mentioned: ‘They were incredibly supportive, never doubting or questioning, allowing me the freedom to be truly myself.’
Her mother accepted her decision to resume wearing girl’s clothing, as she later explained.
At a crucial juncture, when she requested a dress for Christmas, her mother pondered, ‘Giving Holly a dress directly from me feels too stressful.’ Instead, she asked one of our close relatives to buy her a dress. This decision marked a significant change in their circumstances.
Currently, Holly embodies the same compassionate and patient demeanor that her mom uses while nurturing her own kids – a delightful brood consisting of twin ten-year-olds, Etta and Artie, as well as their adorable six-year-old sister, Lola.
Previously, she openly discussed the tough and heartbreaking experience she faced during her efforts to conceive, sharing that she suffered through two miscarriages and two unsuccessful rounds of in-vitro fertilization (IVF). Eventually, she decided to explore adoption and surrogacy as alternatives.
Over the past few years, there’s been a significant increase in children expressing their gender identity differently from their biological sex. Some professionals suggest that this persistent identification could signify they are transgender, while others believe it might just be a passing phase.
