Richard Armitage gives update on new Harlan Coben thriller
As a seasoned gamer of the small screen, I can confidently say that Richard Armitage has become my favorite deck of cards when it comes to Netflix adaptations of Harlan Coben’s novels. After binge-watching “The Stranger,” “Stay Close,” and “Fool Me Once,” I was beginning to worry that I might run out of Coben-Armitage pairings, but the news of his latest venture, “Missing You,” has me jumping for joy like a certain hobbit in a field of daisies.
Richard Armitage recently provided an update on the upcoming Netflix series, titled “Missing You“, which is based on a Harlan Coben novel.
The actor known for portraying Robin Hood, Bilbo Baggins from The Hobbit, and Castlevania has emerged as the preferred choice to play leading roles in television adaptations of the widely acclaimed writer’s novels.
Following his roles in “The Stranger,” “Stay Close,” and “Fool Me Once,” he’s returning once more, and hinted that fans won’t have to wait much longer for the release of “Missing You.”
I shared with Radio Times that the project is now completed, and what an incredible experience it was! It boasts a terrific narrative, albeit compact in length, featuring the brilliant Lenny Henry and my esteemed co-star from Uncle Vanya, Rosalind Eleazar.
“I look forward to seeing that, I think January next year.”
He mentioned that it’s understandable why Harlan Coben’s adaptations have built such a large fanbase over time, explaining: “Harlan Coben is exceptional at creating those nail-biting cliffhangers, and his books are impossible to put down once you start reading – they translate exceptionally well into television dramas.”
It seems to me that Netflix has discovered their extensive library of content is incredibly versatile, allowing them to continue creating adaptations for possibly the next decade or more. Whether I’ll be involved in every one of these productions remains uncertain; I rarely make such definitive statements.
He added that he was incredibly surprised to be asked back to do a third Coben show, and then even more so when he was asked about doing a fourth.
He replied, “I told him, ‘You’re not just a little eccentric, you’re fully eccentric, but still, I’d be happy to.'” He further explained, “I consider myself like their lucky charm, something they believe they can manage without, yet they can’t seem to do so… A hat-trick refers to three goals in sports, doesn’t it? Well, I think a poker is four. I’m on the verge of accomplishing the Harlan Coben poker.”
