Corey Lamar said in an Instagram story Friday morning that he’s in “unbearable pain,” less than a day after the Fulton County medical examiner confirmed the rapper (real name Dequantes Devontay Lamar) died at age 33.
Elder Lamar pleaded on Instagram, ‘Lord, I implore you, help me comprehend this. To find the loss of my son – my firstborn, my confidant – as a dream, Lord, I ask. Please, join me in prayer for my family and myself.
He added: “I feel like I’m crushed into a million pieces.”
As a movie buff sharing some recent news, I can tell you that on Thursday, a representative from Fulton County’s Medical Examiner’s Office verified to The Times that they received notice about the rapper’s passing from Grady Memorial Hospital. However, they didn’t reveal the reason behind his death.
On Thursday, I found myself swept up in the news that circulated across social media about Rich Homie Quan’s passing. This tragic news sparked a wave of tributes from fellow hip-hop artists such as Playboi Carti, Boosie Badazz, and Migos’ own Quavo.
In a post on X (previously known as Twitter), Boosie wrote, “Always remember to keep your smile and the unique way you speak, not to mention your music.
Known as a significant figure in Atlanta hip-hop alongside artists like Young Thug, Rich Homie Quan gained popularity through tracks such as “Lifestyle” and “Type of Way.” Notable musicians like Tyga, Yo Gotti, Fetty Wap, Lil Wayne, Meek Mill, and Nicki Minaj have collaborated with this talented artist in their respective projects.
Prior to Rich Homie Quan’s passing, his girlfriend Amber Williams informed the police that she found him unconscious, based on a 911 call recording released and shared by Atlanta-based station 11 Alive. In this recording, it is evident that Williams asked for an ambulance to be dispatched.
In the recording, she states, “He didn’t stir from his place. I couldn’t detect a pulse or signs of breath, and he seemed to be frothing at the corners of his mouth.
Williams hasn’t personally commented about her boyfriend’s passing on social media, yet she’s reposted messages from friends and followers expressing sympathy and requesting privacy, which she shared on her Instagram story.
“Praying for God to wrap his arms around you sis,” one post reshared by Williams said.
According to the medical examiner’s statement released on Friday, they have conducted an autopsy on the rapper. The reason and method of his death are still undetermined, awaiting the results of lab tests and a thorough examination of tissue samples under the microscope.
