Rian Johnson, known for his mystery film series Knives Out, also created the critically praised series Poker Face. The show, starring Natasha Lyonne and featuring many guest stars, premiered on Peacock in 2023. Although it received positive reviews, Peacock didn’t renew it for another season. Now, Johnson is looking for a new home for the show, and a major network is currently in talks to pick it up.
HBO is considering bringing back Poker Face after it was canceled by Peacock. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, HBO CEO Casey Bloys said they’ve discussed the possibility of seasons 3 and 4 with creator Ryan Johnson. Johnson envisions a significant change for the show, with a different lead actor playing Charlie Cale every two seasons, potentially starting with Peter Dinklage. While Bloys didn’t share details about how far discussions went, a revival at HBO remains a possibility.
We were aware of the initial plan, and when we learned Peacock decided against it, we started exploring other options. We’ve had some discussions, but the future of the project is still uncertain. I think Rian Johnson is a very talented director, and I’m a big fan of Peter Dinklage, but I don’t have any updates to share at this time.
It’s currently unknown whether the TV show Poker Face will find a new home after being cancelled by Peacock. Although critics loved the show and it performed well on the streaming service, Peacock has decided not to continue with it. Poker Face featured a unique format – each episode presented a new mystery – and a wide range of guest stars. Here’s a description of the show:
Poker Face centers around Charlie, played by Natasha Lyonne, who has a remarkable talent for spotting lies. Each episode, she travels in her classic Plymouth Barracuda, stumbling upon quirky characters and intriguing mysteries that she feels compelled to solve.
