Rian Johnson addresses future of Knives Out series with Daniel Craig following end of Netflix deal

Rian Johnson has talked about what’s next for the *Knives Out* series. He recently finished his agreement with Netflix to make two sequels, an arrangement that started with the original *Knives Out* in 2019 and concluded with *Wake Up Dead Man*.

I’m really hoping Netflix keeps working with Rian Johnson on more movies, but even if they don’t, he’s promised us that he’s definitely planning to continue the *Knives Out* story in some way, which is awesome!

At the London Film Festival on Thursday, Samuel L. Jackson indicated he and Daniel Craig would be open to making more James Bond films as long as audiences are still interested and they both continue to enjoy the creative process and find it challenging. He believes this enthusiasm would result in a new and exciting experience for viewers (according to Variety).

Johnson said he’d happily continue working on these projects forever, then hinted at what fans can expect in his upcoming work, *Wake Up Dead Man*.

He described the film as more realistic and serious than previous ones. However, he still found it very funny, perhaps even funnier, because the humor stands out more against the serious backdrop – it’s like finding something amusing in an unexpected place.

The movie *Wake Up Dead Man* will be released in some theaters on November 26th, and will start streaming on Netflix on December 12th.

Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) receives an invitation to a gathering in upstate New York, where he unexpectedly finds himself solving a murder in the quaint village of Chimney Rock. He’s assisted in his investigation by Father Jud Duplenticy (Josh O’Connor).

The film also stars Cailee Spaeny, Andrew Scott, Jeremy Renner, Mila Kunis, Thomas Haden Church, Glenn Close, Kerry Washington, Daryl McCormack, and Josh Brolin, adding to its impressive cast.

Daniel Craig, like director Rian Johnson, plans to continue playing detective Benoit Blanc as long as the *Knives Out* movies remain high quality. “If Rian keeps writing these films and they’re as good as this one, I’m in,” Craig told *Screen Daily*.

“Rian is one of the best screenwriters around, and I’m so fortunate to be able to work with him.”

The film *Wake Up Dead Man* will be shown in some theaters starting November 26th, and will then become available on Netflix December 12th.
