As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for understanding human emotions, I can empathize deeply with Reverend Richard Coles’ heart-wrenching journey of love, loss, and newfound affection. His poignant tribute to his late husband David Oldham on what would have been his 48th birthday serves as a testament to the profound impact one person can leave in another’s life.

As I honored my special day on Tuesday, I couldn’t help but take a moment to pay tribute to my beloved husband, David Oldham, who is deeply missed.

62-year-old celebrity from “I’m A Celebrity” posted a genuine photograph on Twitter, featuring David (who was also a clergyman) among his pets, engaging in knitting while donning a gray facial mask.

He penned: ‘David’s birthday today. He would have been forty eight. RIP.’

In 2019, at the young age of 42, David lost his life following a tough struggle against alcoholism. Throughout his life, he once acknowledged that his absence left a significant void.

With Oti Mabuse, Richard candidly shared that he yearns for his loved one’s return, expressing, “I long for him. My deepest wish is for him to come back home.

In my dream, there came a moment when he unexpectedly entered, clutching a bag from the local market, as if he had gone shopping. I exclaimed, “I assumed you were deceased,” to which he replied, “No, I was merely shopping.

Richard said, “I greeted him, ‘Nice to see you again, thank you for returning,’ and he responded, ‘I’m not sticking around, I found someone else.’ This made us both chuckle.

However, he’s like an enormous void in my existence, and I’m structuring my life around this absence. Meeting Dickie is wonderful news, though.

‘So we’re in a relationship now together but I just miss David very much.’

Richard and David met back in 2007 and entered a civil partnership three years later in 2010.

During his time on I’m A Celebrity, he shared that they first crossed paths when David attended one of his sermons in church. Later, David expressed interest and reached out to him afterwards.

He mentioned that it wasn’t until he got a particular message from him that he recognized his feelings for him had a romantic aspect.

Richard said: ‘I came to preach a sermon in his church and he sort of picked me up afterwards!’

In a more detailed explanation, he mentioned David: “After I delivered my sermon, he expressed an interest in becoming ordained and sought advice from me. On a Sunday, he visited us for lunch, maintaining a formal and business-like atmosphere.

Then, he detailed their prolonged conversation. However, Richard had to hurry off to church, leading David to propose another meeting with Richard for further discussion.

After Richard had made plans with someone to settle an issue within a month or about six weeks, he attended church when his phone buzzed, and there was a message from David asking: “Haven’t you figured it out yet?

Richard then joked that that was when the penny dropped.

The star previously said David was ‘probably’ already an alcoholic, but neither of them was aware.

In conversation with BBC Radio Northampton, Richard noted that David had a longstanding, lively affection for alcohol.

He stated: ‘At 20 or 25, a strong affection for alcohol might be acceptable. However, as one reaches 35 or 40, it’s a different story. His drinking habits, unfortunately, spiraled out of control.’

He shared that during difficult times, David would resort to using anesthetics, which seemed to take over him instead.

Once upon a time, they would refer to alcohol as the ‘dramatic demon’ – a term that seems quite theatrical. However, one could liken its impact to being possessed by an evil spirit. At his lowest point, David became extremely challenging to handle, and dealing with him was incredibly tough.

Currently, Richard is in a relationship with the actor, Dickie (age 60), who is the offspring of Brian Cant, a popular figure from the 60s and 70s known for hosting children’s TV shows like Playschool and Dappledown Farm.

On the dating platform Elite Singles, they crossed paths and instantly connected. Coles mentioned to The Times that a wedding might not be too far off in the future, as he envisioned their relationship potentially leading towards marriage.

The actor, from Kent, has starred in Mary Queen of Scots, Stan & Ollie and Doctor Who.

After David’s passing, the thought of dating someone new was an extremely challenging prospect for him. In fact, it wasn’t until three long years had passed that he started to contemplate the idea at all.
