Revealed: The WAG who has secretly been helping Lauryn Goodman pen barbed social media posts and telling her how to behave in public
As a seasoned observer of high-profile court battles and public feuds, I find myself drawn to the latest saga involving Lauryn Goodman and Rebekah Vardy. Having closely followed the dramatic fallout between Ms. Rooney and Ms. Vardy, it’s fascinating to see how these women navigate the limelight and its consequences.
In any case, if someone required a comforting place to express their emotions, it would have been Lauryn Goodman following her discovery that the shocking specifics of her embarrassing courtroom confrontation might become publicly known.
For several months, she was certain that the vibrant set of financial requests she’d presented to her ex-partner, professional footballer Kyle Walker, would stay concealed within legal boundaries.
However, once it was evident that the specifics of Ms. Goodman’s remarkable demands – such as a seven-bedroom mansion, a gardener earning £28 per hour, and a car valued up to £70,000 every three years – would be broadcast globally, the 33-year-old influencer immediately knew who to approach.
Advance, please, Rebekah Vardy – another WAG who previously experienced a more humiliating loss in court two years back when she filed a lawsuit against Coleen Rooney for defamation.
The much-discussed ‘Wagatha Christie’ court case captivated the country, leaving Ms Vardy in a humorous predicament.
Currently, The Mail has disclosed that Miss Vardy and Miss Goodman, who was once involved with Walker and is the mother of two of his kids, have grown exceptionally close. In fact, it’s been suggested that Miss Vardy is offering advice to Miss Goodman on how to compose social media content following the recent events.
The women regularly chat, with Ms. Vardy, a mom of five, offering assistance to Ms. Goodman, who is raising two young children on her own. Notably, Ms. Vardy was previously a single mother herself until she met Leicester City and England striker Jamie in 2014.
She has also introduced Ms Goodman to her publicist, who is known to have good tabloid connections.
According to a friend of Ms. Goodman’s, there’s an intriguing friendship offstage between Lauryn and Becky. They share many similarities.
‘Becky has been mentoring Lauryn, connecting her with professionals she’s collaborated with, providing guidance on social media content and public conduct, as well as offering assistance in raising her kids single-handedly. Becky, being a fellow single parent herself, truly understands the situation.’
‘Lauryn truly valued the advice given to her, as she didn’t receive much help from others. Therefore, the support was greatly appreciated.’
Over the past weekend, Ms. Vardy posted words of encouragement on Ms. Goodman’s Instagram, saying: ‘Continue standing strong because I believe you always do. The truth will ultimately triumph.’
At the end of last month, the complete set of requests made by Walker, 34, towards Ms Goodman was disclosed publicly, as a result of court applications by newspapers such as the Mail, once reporting limitations were removed.
It was revealed that she desired Walker to cover maintenance costs equivalent to a £350,000 yearly salary and allocate £31,000 for an artificial grass lawn, as she envisions her one-year-old daughter, who is still learning to walk, eventually becoming a celebrated member of the England women’s football team, referred to as a ‘Lioness’.
She requested a Mercedes worth £70,000 and an additional car costing £30,000 for her nanny, despite the fact that the nanny is not able to operate a vehicle.
Ms. Goodman contends that she requires £500 per month to keep a hot tub exclusively for the kids, another £500 for a gardener’s services, and £1,440 for a cleaning service each month.
People near Ms. Goodman worry it may take some time for her to bounce back, as she’s been deeply embarrassed by Judge Edward Hess’s criticism that she was using Walker, a professional footballer earning £160,000 weekly at Manchester City, like an endless source of funds, following the birth of his children Kairo (aged 4) and Kinara (age 1).
Friends say she is quieter since the case and less keen for attention – and ‘very, very down’.
‘Lauryn has consistently been straightforward and confident in her beliefs, but this situation has taken her by surprise, similar to being struck by a massive weight. Her concern over the harsh public response is significant, as she finds it unjust.’
After her own legal dispute, just like Ms. Vardy, was labeled as an ‘unreliable witness’ by the judge.
She was ordered to pay more than £2million in legal costs after the nine-day hearing, including £1.5million towards Ms Rooney’s costs.
The controversy began in October 2019, when Ms. Rooney alleged that Ms. Vardy was leaking stories to The Sun newspaper.
In a post on social media, Mrs. Rooney, who is married to the ex-Manchester United and England forward Wayne Rooney, claimed that the Instagram account responsible for sharing posts from her private account was in fact operated by Rebekah Vardy. To confirm this suspicion, she conducted an undercover investigation.
Next year, Ms. Vardy filed a libel lawsuit against Ms. Rooney. This legal dispute reached its court hearing in London in May 2022. Two months afterward, the judge ruled in favor of Ms. Rooney, stating that her statements held substantial truth.
Ms Vardy was said to have been ‘devastated and horrified’ at the outcome.
In the aftermath of events I’ve been involved in, I was featured in a documentary that delved into those matters, where I openly discussed my challenging childhood within the Jehovah’s Witness community. Beyond this specific instance, I’ve generally chosen to keep a low profile and stay out of the spotlight.
According to those closely following the developments, it appears that while Ms Vardy seems to have cultivated a friendship with Ms Goodman, Ms Rooney has been backing Annie Kilner, Kyle Walker’s wife, since the revelation in December about Walker having fathered a second child with Lauryn caused quite a stir.
Additionally, the Walkers enlisted both legal and public relations experts similar to those who assisted in Ms. Rooney’s case against Ms. Vardy. Among them are lawyer Paul Lunt from Brabners, a law firm based in Liverpool, and PR consultant Rachel Monk.
In the meantime, it’s worth noting that Ms. Goodman has brought on board Ian Edmondson, a previous news editor from The News of the World, which is Rebekah’s PR man. Ian left the paper during their phone-hacking controversy.
Ms. Goodman is additionally acquainted with Caroline Watt, who used to be Ms. Vardy’s representative. Notably, Caroline Watt’s phone, along with numerous messages on it, became mysteriously absent from a vessel in the North Sea.
There are further parallels, as both women have lavish tastes.
Lauryn resides in a roomy house featuring a Hydropool hot tub, whereas Ms Vardy and her spouse Jamie call a grand £3 million farmhouse in Lincolnshire home. This expansive property boasts a bar, gym, a football field, and an elaborate play area painted with vibrant rainbow colors, equipped with slides, swings, and a climbing structure.
Lauryn drives a top-of-the-range Mercedes, while Rebekah has a customised Range Rover.
As one of Lauryn’s friends put it: ‘At least they have plenty to talk about.’
