Returning critically-acclaimed medical drama that “hits the feels” announces major new cast additions

Among the highly praised new TV series from this year, “The Pitt“, has announced fresh acting talents set to join in season 2.

The inaugural season, debuting in January, offered a unique take on medical dramas. Spanning a single extended workday at a financially strapped and staff-starved healthcare facility, each episode approximately lasted for an hour, representing one segment of that long shift.

Following its success, a second season is on the way, and four new actors are joining the cast.

As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share the news that, according to Deadline, Charles Baker – known for his roles in “Breaking Bad” and “The Blacklist” – has been cast as Troy, an ED patient in a new role. This homeless character, Troy, experiences feelings of invisibility.

The character played by Irene Choi from the series “Mozart in the Jungle,” who is insatiably curious about medicine, has been cast as Joy, a third-year medical student known for her firm personal boundaries and extensive medical understanding.

Actress Laëtitia Hollard, known for her portrayal of trauma-related roles, is set to take on the part of an innocent, fresh college graduate named Emma. On the other hand, stage performer Lucas Iverson has secured the role of James, a medical student like Emma.

In the upcoming Season 2, we’ll witness a leap through time, and many characters from Season 1 are expected to reappear. Additionally, certain characters may have advanced or been promoted within their roles during this off-screen period.

The upcoming episodes will also take place on the 4 July weekend.

The initial season garnered overwhelming praise from critics, boasting a 95% positive score on Rotten Tomatoes, and gained favor among viewers as well.

On IMDb, fans loved it too, and it stands an 8.9 average rating

One viewer raved, “This hospital series is simply outstanding, hands down the best I’ve ever watched,” while another praised it as “an exceptionally accurate medical show.

The review evoked similar emotions as when watching a traditional medical drama like ER (created by the same team).

The review brought back the same feelings you’d get from watching a classic medical drama such as ER (produced by the original makers).

What truly grabbed my attention was the exceptional acting. The performances in this production were incredibly lifelike and authentic, making it difficult for me to remember that I was watching a staged performance rather than a real-life scenario.

In the USA, you can stream “The Pitt” on Max. Unfortunately, it’s not yet streaming in the UK.
