Anna Samson, star of Return to Paradise, has hinted at a thrilling continuation of the Death in Paradise spin-off. The first season ended with a dramatic cliffhanger: as Detective Mackenzie (Samson) left for London, she secretly overheard her ex-fiancé, Glenn (Tai Hara), confess he still had feelings for her.
Okay, so I just heard from Samson that season two of Return to Paradise is really leaning into the romantic tension – apparently, the ‘will they, won’t they’ stuff is going to be way more intense. I’m already hooked!
In an interview with Digital Spy, Samson discussed the future of Mackenzie and Glenn’s relationship in season two. He explained that the tension and potential for romance between them will become even stronger, pushing them to both ends of the spectrum – closer to either getting together or staying apart.

She hinted that a major focus of the series is building up to Glenn’s wedding, creating a lot of anticipation and questions about whether the couple will actually get together.
Throughout the series, everyone keeps wondering if the wedding will actually happen, and if Daisy and Glenn will end up together. Mackenzie is constantly aware of this growing tension and becomes increasingly anxious, and the audience feels the same way – like something is building towards a wedding.

Samson explained that a complicated romantic situation exists between the characters. He noted a recurring tension between Glenn and Mac, often caused by Daisy, but sometimes stemming from their own internal issues and a long-standing history. He emphasized this dynamic is a significant and ongoing element of the show.
In a recent interview with Digital Spy, Hara discussed Glenn and Mac’s relationship and what viewers can expect in the new season.

“It just gets more entangled and confusing and complicated. Everything just goes deeper,” he said.
By the end of the first season, Glenn doesn’t realize Mackenzie heard him, but he’s already said goodbye and accepted that they’re not a good match, despite how strange her return to Dolphin Cove was.
He’s both confused and delighted by her return, but it creates new complications for how he’ll build a future with her, Daisy, and their relationship.
Season 2 of Return to Paradise starts Friday, October 31st at 8pm on BBC One. You can also watch it on BBC iPlayer right after it airs. If you missed it, Season 1 is already available on BBC iPlayer.
