Resident Evil Re:Verse to Shut Down Next Month

According to the announcement made by Capcom, they will be closing down “Resident Evil Re:Verse“, their multiplayer spin-off from the Resident Evil series, in March.

As a dedicated fan, I must admit that the debut of Resident Evil Village didn’t quite strike a chord with me, or many others, it seems. There’s just something about the multiplayer aspect of Resident Evil that feels off the mark. However, the cooperative play in Resident Evil 5 is an exception to this feeling.

Additionally, there was the less frequently remembered earlier endeavor, “Resident Evil: Resistance”, which debuted in 2020. This release coincided with the remake of “Resident Evil 3”, but unfortunately, it didn’t perform exceptionally well either.

Anyway, Capcom has released a statement about the upcoming closure:

Resident Evil Re:Verse was created to honor the 25th anniversary of the Resident Evil franchise, and ever since it launched, your incredible response has surpassed all our hopes for its success!

With the series now at a significant milestone, we believe that Resident Evil Re:Verse lived up to its initial, festive intention exceptionally well. We are truly thankful for your heartwarming support of Resident Evil Re:Verse, and we sincerely regret to inform you that the outcome may not have met your expectations.

Two years isn’t too harsh, I daresay. It’s longer than many games manage. As of 3rd March, it will no longer be available for purchase, and by 29th June, it will officially close down. It’s unlikely it will return from the grave after that point.
