There are many reasons why people adore the Resident Evil series. Beyond its expertly crafted horror and incredibly detailed worlds, the franchise has rightfully become a favorite among horror game fans. A key part of its appeal is its surprisingly effective humor. These moments of levity are crucial, offering a welcome break from the intense atmosphere and letting players breathe. Leon S. Kennedy, in particular, is famous for his perfectly timed, often terrible, one-liners. He has a knack for saying the wrong thing at exactly the right moment, whether he’s confronting dangerous cults, terrifying monsters, or threats to the entire world. These lines are simultaneously charming and completely unpredictable.

I often wonder which other games would be funny with the kind of cheesy jokes and one-liners we see in some titles. It’s not about ruining a game’s serious atmosphere – writers work hard on that! – but just… why not add some humor? For example, imagine Leon from Resident Evil suddenly appearing in Elden Ring. Elden Ring is known for being a dark, tragic game with incredibly tough bosses. The world isn’t meant for lighthearted comments, and its powerful characters definitely don’t crack jokes. But Leon wouldn’t pay attention to any of that.

Margit, the Fell Omen

Margit, the first boss in Elden Ring, immediately shows players how challenging the game will be with his powerful, deliberately timed attacks and constant aggression. He quickly tests Leon by forcefully slamming ghostly weapons into the ground, trying to overwhelm him. However, Leon is already moving around Margit, studying the patterns of his attacks as if he’s simply learning the cues for another boss fight.

Malenia, Blade of Miquella

Malenia is a notoriously difficult boss in recent video games, famous for her quick attacks, ability to heal by hitting you, and constant aggression. Leon would instantly recognize her fighting style and know he’s in for a tough battle, but he pushes forward anyway, determined to see it through.

Godrick the Grafted

Godrick is a ruthless leader obsessed with power, and he horrifyingly grafts extra limbs onto his body, hoping to become more powerful. Leon would instantly recognize this as a disturbing, unnatural creation – something clearly driven by a dangerous and excessive ambition.

Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon

This boss battle is a challenging two-part fight, starting with a chaotic classroom scene and then escalating into powerful cosmic magic. The first phase with Rennala is pure pandemonium – students are moving around, furniture is flying, and a glowing spot signals where to attack. Once Rennala begins using moon-based magic, Leon focuses less on understanding the story behind the fight and more on simply surviving.

Starscourge Radahn

This famous general seems to command even the stars, all while riding a horse far too small to support his weight. Leon would be stunned into silence just by seeing Radahn.

Morgott, the Omen King

Margit is back, and she’s even more furious and powerful than before, determined to not let Leon off the hook. Leon, however, probably sees this as an unwanted repeat battle.

Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy

In Elden Ring, the Lord of Blasphemy is a huge serpent god who makes a creepy offer to “join the family.” Leon, however, quickly understands what’s really going on, though he does listen politely first.

I’ll pass on joining the family.

Fire Giant

He’s an enormous, sorrowful protector, and just his size makes the battle feel impossible. Leon spent nearly the entire fight looking up, desperately trying to avoid being crushed by something as big as a building. He wouldn’t point out the enemy’s weakness until he’d figured it out.

Talk about having two left feet.

Maliketh, the Black Blade

Maliketh is a remarkably quick and difficult boss in Elden Ring, often defeating players very quickly. A cutscene after this fight would be brief. Maliketh’s relentless speed and aggression wouldn’t give Leon, the NPC, a chance to speak—the player would be too focused on simply surviving. Any witty comment from Leon would likely come after the fight, earning an eye roll from the player.

Sir Gideon Ofnir, the All-Knowing

It’s a familiar scenario: someone acts like they have all the answers, then tries to test Leon. He’s encountered this attitude countless times, even back in his early days fighting in Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4. And it rarely turns out well for those who adopt it.

Godfrey, First Elden Lord / Hoarah Loux

Godfrey is a proud and powerful warrior, but he grows tired of formalities and simply begins fighting. He initially maintains some control, but quickly descends into unrestrained, brutal combat, forcing Leon to adapt.

Radagon of the Golden Order

Radagon is a man of few words, and Leon is even more concise – particularly when he’s facing a massive, glowing hammer hurtling towards him.

Elden Beast

This otherworldly being doesn’t feel like a typical enemy – it’s more like a bizarre, unsettling hallucination. Leon has had enough. The sheer size of it, the strange environment, and the fact that he’s battling what appears to be a living constellation… he really needs a drink right now.
