Rerun Review: Fragments of Truth

Hello there! The Fragments of Truth update has introduced four operatives on re-run banners, along with the fresh addition, Vidya – Celestial Swan. In this update themed around murder mysteries, which banners should you focus your pulls on, and which ones might be misleading? Let’s delve into it together.

But first, a word from Vidya

Before we proceed to the crime scene, Vidya, our exceptional detective, wants to share a few thoughts with us privately. As a robust and flexible backup option, she makes a compelling case for being your top pick in the gacha system. She doesn’t necessarily dismiss the other candidates, but choosing her means they’ll need to put in extra effort to secure a place on your recruiting list for operatives.

Siris – Ksana and Fritia – Turbo

May 29 – July 10 (UTC+8)

Siris – Ksana and Fritia – Turbo. Both of these characters are part of a unique reappearance event that lasts throughout the update. Since they’re in the same reappearance banner, you can only select one from each category (operative or weapon). Typically, this would lead to a difficult decision, but this time, neither character is exceptional.

As a dedicated player, I used to rely heavily on Siris-Ksana for my DPS needs, but it’s been quite a while since she was a top choice in the game. Nowadays, her rotation is perceived as too sluggish to keep up with the competition, making her an unfortunate pick that’s not recommended. On the other hand, Fritia-Turbo wasn’t exactly shining from the get-go, and most of her gameplay issues remain unaddressed. It seems like Seasun could have given these two characters a boost through buffs or quality of life improvements to make them more appealing, but instead, they seem focused on selling outfits – Siris has two outfit reruns in the shop, and Fritia has two outfit + weapon skin combos (one new, one old) available for purchase.

It’s important to mention that both of these agents are quite enjoyable for gameplay across various content, and it’s fair to say that most DPS agents currently released have a similar comfort level. However, this makes them more of a premium choice at best, considering the other options available in this patch’s reruns.

Chenxing – Jade Arc and Yao – Nightglow

June 19 – July 10 (UTC+8)

In our “second half” re-airing, we’ll be showcasing the characters from our mid-anniversary update, Chenxing – Jade Arc and Yao – Nightglow. It’s worth noting that unlike Siris and Fritia, there are no restrictions on who you can select to obtain. However, just because you have the option to get both, does it necessarily mean you should?

Chenxing, or Jade Arc, remains an exceptional choice for a Damage Per Second (DPS) character, dealing immense damage quickly and sometimes bypassing invincibility mechanics, instantly defeating numerous bosses before they can retaliate. Her basic skill is also highly effective at clearing waves of enemies, making life even more challenging for the other two characters introduced in this patch. If you’re looking for a DPS character from the three available options, Chenxing should be your top pick.

As a gamer, I must admit, Yao – Nightglow is quite the conundrum. She’s undeniably good, no doubt about it! She’s still my buddy Chenxing – Jade Arc’s go-to gal for boosting numbers, and she plays beautifully with every ballistic DPS in the game. She’d be an easy recommendation… if not for Vidya – Celestial Swan. That girl’s on a whole different level!

In September 2024, if you were to travel back in time and mention that Vidya would be a strong competitor against one of the top ballistic supports in the game, people might think you’re joking. However, this is our current reality. Both Yao and Vidya are excellent choices for a team, particularly when supporting Chenxing. They complement each other well within the squad.

However, if I were to compare the two, Vidya offers more versatility as she can be effectively used with Skill DPS operatives. On the other hand, Yao excels specifically in her role as a Ballistic support. It’s important to note that Vidya’s performance dips when used with multiple types of elemental damage. But even then, she remains a valuable asset in your tactical arsenal outside of the mono-element teams that are popular today.

Ultimately, the decision between Yao and Vidya comes down to personal preference. Yao provides specialized skills within her niche, while Vidya offers a more balanced approach as a generalist.
