Reported X-Men Director Dodges Questions About MCU Movie

It’s been circulating for quite a while that Jake Schreier, director of Thunderbolts, is expected to direct the forthcoming X-Men movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, Schreier has consistently avoided confirming this speculation.

In an interview with ComicBook, Schreier was momentarily praised for landing the job, but quickly downplayed any formal confirmation. When asked about rumors that he had secured the role, Schreier remained tight-lipped and then playfully suggested he would submit a proposal to name the movie “Uncanny X-Men” to the appropriate individuals.

During an exclusive chat with ComingSoon, I opted to remain tight-lipped when discussing the film. When asked about my personal background with the characters and my opinions on the team, I deliberately decided to steer clear of that topic.

Given that my knowledge about how the internet functions is limited, I’d rather not answer this question, following the principle of ‘pleading the fifth’. Things can get complicated, as you might understand. I truly apologize for any inconvenience.

What do we know about the MCU X-Men movie?

Currently, not much information is available about the upcoming X-Men movie within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). However, it has been confirmed that some of the original cast members, including Patrick Stewart’s Professor X, are set to appear in the 2026 film “Avengers: Doomsday.” Their roles in this film remain undisclosed.

There are whispers suggesting Bryan Cranston could play Professor X, but it’s not set in stone yet. The most recent update on this potential project was shared earlier this year by Marvel Studios’ Vice President of Production & Development, Nate Moore, who mentioned they were just starting out with the reboot process.

For now, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has a number of upcoming films scheduled, such as Spider-Man: A Fresh Start, Avengers: Apocalypse, and Avengers: Battle of Secret Wars, which will be released in 2026 and 2027.
